break pad smell

I just put on a new set of brembo OE rotors and PBR pads today and i went to test drive them and when i got back to my house i could really smell the pads. Is this something that should worry me or is it something that will go away soon

Your supposed to bed in the pads and rotors. Several (8-10) hard brakes from 50 - 20MPH with at least a mile of cool down in between. That will heat up the brakes enough to burn off the compounds used in mfg. and will bed the new pads into the new rotors. That assures long brake life and less change of pad-rotor-material transfer which results in brake judder.

Cliff notes: The smell is normal, but you really should follow a proper break in process for your new brakes.

before you put the rotors on, you need to spray them down with brake cleaner to get the film of oil off of them! Then go ahead & install pads.
