01 Eclipse 17s on a 4th gen

So my buddy got new rims for his eclipse and he has these laying around his basement now, and he doesn't really want them taking up space. Today im going to throw them on my car to see what it looks like and if it's good, im going to buy them. Dont know about the price yet, but we're good friends so he wont overcharge me.

Right now i have curbed up 15" hubcaps which are 40lbs with tires(pretty light), but they're SO UGLY!! This gives me a chance to upgrade to alloys. If i don't get these, i probably won't get new rims for a couple of years at least because i really dont want to deal with shipping them and i dont want to drive out of state to buy rims.

The rims have Mitsubishi center caps, but he says i can easily snap them out. I'm not worried about the whole Mitsubishi/Nissan thing because if it looks good, it doesn't worry me. I'm sure people besides car enthusiasts won't be able to tell that i have eclipse rims on a maxima. They're kinda heavy, about 24lbs a peice, but that doesn't matter because i can easily throw on my stock steelies for track days.

Here's a pic of the same type of rim, this isn't his.

I MIGHT have a picture of these later today, but i dont know because my parents went to England for vacation and took both of our cameras.

Comments?

if they're the same lug pattern, just jack up your car and throw em on. since they are your friends, I don't think he would mind letting you put em on. thats really the only way to tell if they're going to look good.

It looks higher than it actually is. I can still easily chirp from first to second. From a roll, it pulls, not as well obviously, but it's still fine. The wheels are in perfect condition. The tires are 215/50/17. The Mitsu logo is painted red, but I think I'm either going to paint it silver, black or gold. Any opinions?

I happen to have a 2001 Eclipse GT that had the same exact rims...those things weigh 21.5 lbs each. Though when I switched to 17" Motegi DP10s, which weigh 18.5 lbs each, I did feel a bit of performance improvement.

I guess they look better than the hubcaps, but I would try to get rid of the Mitsu logo, looks strange on there.

Other then the fact that I hate Mitsu...those just ain't right! Your better off with steelies. The more I look at it, it's just wrong! I happen to be in the car biz and can tell right off the bat. Almost makes me wanna donate my old stocks from my Max. Where do you stay?

I live in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The wheels don't really look that bad in person, that's not a very good pic. This is MUCH better than steelies, especially when i put mild spacers on the back because right now, the rims are really tucked in and i don't like how it looks in the back.

Oh yeah, i figured out what im going to do with the mitsu centercaps. I'm giong to take it out and sand the logo off completely and paint it body color. That should look better. I'll post some pics in the Member Rides section when the car is clean and the centercaps are done.
