An old friend found me.

So yesterday I recieved a certified letter in the mail from a local towing service saying that they had my 96 Maxima in storage. It had been reported as abandoned two blocks away from the towing company.
I sold this car about a year ago with a blown motor to a friend of mine. All it needed was a motor. It was no longer modded. My friend wasnt able to fix it because he just didnt have the time to do it or the place to do it any more, so he sold it to a Cash-For-Cars guy for $200.
I went yesterday and looked at it and snapped some pics. They said since it was still legally in my name that I could have it. I think I still have a key somewhere. Anyways, $380 will get it out. I'm thinking of getting it and dropping in a 3.5 and having a little fun with it.
Here's a couple pics:

It's just a little dirty but looks to be in a little better shape than what I left it in.

Yeah it's about time I got some good luck. I was thinking of taking all my mods off my 99 and putting them on this one and driving it again. Although it's auto and my 99 is a 5spd, the 96 is still my first love. It's like going back to an ex for a booty call...cheap and easy. This car already has a 97-99 trunk conversion, and I have a lot of extra parts too. It just needs a motor. I coud get this car back o the road for less than $1k.

Well, if you really want your 96, definately swap transmissions too. The 96 looks to be in good condition all things considered, and a 3.5L would be oh so sweet too! And...you can probably do all that with what selling your 99 would give you...

I know a place to get a spoiler that has the clear third brake light. PM me your number and maybe we can meet up this weekend and check out some junkyards.

Ran at the track with 202k miles on the odo and apparently blew the head gasket. It had oil in the coolant and coolant in the oil. It got me home though...ticking and knocking the whole way back.

to all of the above. My .02, slap in an F/I 3.5 and gut the thing from front to back except for a racing seat, and some gauges then run the shiet out of it!

definitely do it! hell, you could probably sell the whole car right back on the .org for double that or better without fixing a thing, if you were so inclined.

I'd rather get it running and sell my 99 5spd for 5500. It'll probably be in the FS section in a couple months if all goes well.

UPDATE:

So I'm looking around on craigslist and I come across an ad for a 96 Maxima that has front end damage for $500. "Hey I can probably fix that if it's not too bad", I thought. I texted the guy and he gave me the address of where it was. I pull up and see that its a black Maxima... ok, cool. I look a little closer and realize its MY old 96. "WTF? What happened to my baby?"

Well, what a depressing afternoon. I passed on it since its got frame damage.

If it didn't have the severe frame damage...I would totally say that you need to buy it cause that is just a sign...

Shame it had to end like that

Nah, I passed on it because of the frame damage.

I did however pick up and identical 95 yesterday for $900. It has a blown head gasket, but I was able to drive it the 2 miles home. The body is straight, yet the paint is ****ty. Everything from my I30t is going on this car.
