Need help regarding code 0702 and possibly purchase of new Cat. Conv.

I received the code 0702 last night while driving at a moderate pace. I ran the code and it's for the 3 way catalyst (C. Convertor). The car has approx. 160K miles on it and I'm assuming I will be requiring a new c/c as the spark plugs are fairly new as the motor doesn't have to many miles. The coils should be good as I have no misfires or codes for misfire. I really don't smell anything and the O2 sensors are all new except for the rear one in the B-Pipe. I'm assuming it MAY just be a fluke, I reset the ECU and hope it doesn't come back.

Now to my questions regarding the C/C.

Which one would you guys recommend? I know they don't gain me a damn thing and that's fine but I'd still have to get an aftermarket one since I'm not paying 1 grand for an OEM one. Which C/C would not cause the SES light to come on as I read on a few threads certain C/C's did cause the SES light to come on. Thanks a lot guys.

The only way it would know the cat is bad is based on the difference in readings between the O2 sensor ahead and behind it. Since the cats on these cars usually don't fail, I suggest you inspect the rear O2 sensor wiring and maybe replace that sensor first.

Personally I'd go with Eastern for stock replacement. Bolt right in once you get the old bolts off.
