4th gen max, low beam doesnt work, high does

Drivers side, I replaced the bulb once, that didn't do it. So, high beams work on both sides, and low beam only works on passenger. This happened randomly while I was driving one night. Whats wrong with my driver side low beam?

Have you checked the wiring harness on the driver side for corrosion and the like? There are two seperate power wires going into the bulb, and one ground. It is possible something happened to your driver side lowbeam power wire.

If it's not the bulb, then it must be the wiring harness

I'm sure it's just the bulb...swap your bulbs and see what happens. If it does the same thing its the harness.

I have good head light bulbs, used known good bulbs, switched side to side ect. Hardness on drivers side is brand new, it was replaced since I've had the car, passenger side is original. Still, no signs of anything wrong with it, weathered the like. Can I jump the low beam power from the passenger side over until I figure out whats wrong? Which pin is it? Will this create too much draw? Don't want to get pulled over.

Was that post explaining that your bulbs are working correctly? Or do you just mean your bulbs are good?

Ahh, sorry for confusion. Bulbs are good, low beam still not operating on driver side. Been too busy to tinker with it lately.

If you tried switching them already and know that its not the bulbs then its the harness.

make sure your "power" wire going to the light socket/connector isn't spliced/cut/came off due to corrossion..

Could also be a loose fitting of the bulb itself on the connector.

No one has suggested this...is it a possibility. The headlight switch? Inside the car? The stalk that turns from low to bright/fogs on off. I really do not think its a loose connection of wire, I spent a good time playing with the wires to make sure they were in okay condition. Which wire is the power wire of the head light bulb for low beams? When you look at the base of the bulb, there are three pins, | | | which one is which?

I don't think it's a good idea to "jump" the power. It's not like a power on lead, you're going to be taking power from your other low beam. I'm not exactly sure what would happen, but I don't think it's a good idea. As far as for your wire harness, the middle one is ground. I wish I still had my 4th gen so I could go out and take a look. I want to say it is the one on the left when looking at it how it should plug into the bulb.

Are you using want to be HID bulbs, or an HID kit on your Maxima? Something that would eat a wire harness? I know you said that it had been replaced since you bought the car, just trying to figure out the root cause.

Right, I didn't think it sounded like a good idea either, that is why I haven't gone for it and asked questions first. lol. I can't remember what the bulbs are exactly...same thing as like silverstars from O'reilly, just a different brand. I'll double check connections, but I can find no corrison. I used crimp style connectors with heatshrink, so little chance of the wire coming loose or getting water in it. I guess I'll probably just buy another connector and try it since everyone seems to think that is the cause...
