Mileages? This doesn't happen too often to our engines.

Well I posted something on it before I found out what it was. My car had 171,000 on a 1995. I was driving up a slight hill going around 25mph when I heard a bang. I pulled over right away and saw oil all over the ground. I had the car towed to a friends shop and he sent me this picture of my motor. I am going to get a new motor I think. It is out of a 1998 so I am hopeing it switches over easy.

One post was asking about what the problem was before I knew and the other one was about a different motor.

never heard of a nissan motor that has a crack in it. Had an old sentra with almost 300 k and was running smooth as butter. You should go for 3.5 for sure. 95-99 are same gen. so should be ''easy'' to fit in, confirm me on that one.

Besides some minor emissions equipment (95's 99's) confirmed.

I vote 3.5L as well. If the shops charging you more than 3k or close to it even, there's an .org member that'll do the swap for you, it's in a sticky in the All Motor thread, the one for the 3.5L swap. Sucks that it happened, but it gives you an excuse to lay out the charge card if you're so inclined ! (As I am)

LOL I agree. Did your mechanic find anything that caused that to happen?

I had to replace the motor in my brother's old 94 pathfinder, it had 171k miles on it and for some reason broke 2 rods during normal driving. They didn't go through the block but they put 2 big holes in the oil pan. I was pretty shocked to see that on a stock N/A motor.
