When i accelerate hard i notice the engine sounds like there is air moving in or out at a very fast rate. Like an extreme, high pitch blowing sound, is this normal?

EDIT: I'm stupid, didn't look at the pics. Maybe you just have a weird resonance in the radiator area...

i get the same sound..only thing i've done was hack the intake box...but this started probably about a week or 2 ago..it sounds like a spooling noise, like a SC ....

my intake wistles somtimes and mine is stock besides the drop in filter.

 

I've been hearing the same sound coming from engine bay occasionally. It's like a high pitch whistle and the higher the RPM, the higher the pitch. My car is bone stock with only a K&N drop-in filter. Anybody has any idea?

If it's normal, why do I only hear it occasionally?

Well, yeah, the wheels are american racing but they were on the car when i got it. Other than that my car is bone stock.

 

Mine sounds a bit like a belt slipping, or like a thousand mice squeaking :

Changes pitch a little when accelerating, and sounds like it's coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment

 

My car is bone stock too, besides all the modifications done to it.

 

Stock, typically refers to the engine and performance part's not things like wheels, if i'm not mistaken. I also have a detachable face radio (again, it came with the car) so those 2 things are not original equiptment. Radio and the rims.

But,anyways......The hissing noise sounds kind of healthy i guess, it just made me wonder.I drove my buddies 2000 maxima SE today and it didn't do it.

 

i got a leak in my exhaust....sounds exactly the same.

 

Funny u say that. I also have an exhaust leak that makes a completely different, unhealthy, putting sound UNDER the car. Can't stand it.

 

Well Im not sure if you were trying to flame me or not, but in my defense all Im gonna say is that, I didnt mean I hear it coming from the engine. I was talking about how it sounds like the window is down. Its leaking from somewhere near the rear axle. It hasnt started to make a "putting" noise. Just a "whooooosh"

 

Not flamming you at all, i'm serious. My exhaust makes a putting sound but it's not very loud. I'ts totally different from the engine sound and it's very annoying. It (my exhaust leak) just makes the car sound kind of unhealthy. I bet they could have just welded it shut in 2 seconds instead of quoting me a $230 bill when i had it checked out. But, they're in it to make money i guess.
