reset TCM or ECU?

maybe a stupid question - is there such a thing as resetting the TCM? if so, how? I've read a couple posts about resetting the ECU after putting new/different ATF in (to re-learn the shifts). but I thought the TCM controlled the shifts, not the ECU, or are they one in the same?

The TCU doesn't learn, it's shifts are mapped, they don't change.
There is nothing to "reset", you can only clear error codes from your ECU.

I have my 95 SE at the transmission shop now, they said trans. is good, but I need to replace the ECU. I thought there were 2 units, a trans. control unit and the ECU. Please help! And is this something I can do!

There is an ECU and TCU, find out which one. Probably the TCU. Yes you can do it yourself, one plug like the ECU held in with a 10 mm bolt and its located behind the ashtray just above the ECU. Not sure how many screws/bolts hold the TCU in place but its a pretty simple job.

Hi, folks,
My auto trans also has slips from 1st shift to 2nd and from 2nd to 3rd shift. How do I make sure I need a new TCM instead of a new AT?

If I need a new TCM, how much is it and where to get it?

Thanks!
