CEL codes (P1446 & P0450) for EVAP problems, need help to pass inspection
Guys,
I tried bringing my car in to get it inspected today. They asked if there are any CEL on - I said yea. It was one for while, then disappered for few weeks and recently came back on again. This time I think it's here to stay...
Mechanic said he's gonna charge extra $75 bucks to pass the car with the CEL on. Autozone ran the diag and here's what I got:
P1446 - Evaporative Vac Solenoid Circuit Malfunction ( 0215 )
P0450 - Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Malfunction
I"m guessing these are both part of the same problem. Car drives OK and starts OK. Getting real crappy gas mileage tho.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

My 97 FSM doesn't show P1446, but P0450 seems pretty straight foward. P0450 is tripped when improper voltage from the EVAP control system pressure sensor is sent to the ECM. Causes could be, EVAP control system pressure sensor itself, it's harness or connectors, or the EVAP canister vent control valve is stuck open. If you have a multimeter I could give you more specifics to test harness, sensor, and the control valve.
