Rusty Exhaust Tip

I dont have a welder, and have never welded. My exhaust tip is completely corroded and shelling apart. The muffler attached to it is pristine, but it is attached by a weld. What is the most economical way for me to get a new tip on there. (BTW I would prefer near stock sound and look)

Thanks in advance

I'd pick up a new tip and have a muffler shop weld it on.

Is this the OEM muffler? Mine slides off if I pull hard enough. I replaced mine with one from another 4th gen in the junkyard. Maybe you could only do this with the older 4th gens.

How much would a muffler shop charge me? Anyone have a relative idea?

Are you talking about the chrome extension that Nissan press fits on and then uses a tube expander to connect it? If so, it has little effect on the sound. When my muffler went, I bought a factory exhaust and the tip was an extra 80.00. I couldnt attach it. They had a special tool sort of like a flaring tool at the dealer they used to attach it. In your case, they would have to cut it off, then add a section of straight pipe and fit a new tip onto that. Any good shop could do that for you.

well a tip doesnt effect the noise, and i would say head to autozone or even walmart, grab a stainless steel tip and go to a muffler shop n tell em to weld it on, wont cost u much

I think its the oem muffler, but I have my doubts about the oem tip. It lived in idaho and oregon, so rust doesnt happen. Only a 99.

It used to be stainless steel i bet, it does attach to the thinner pipe coming out of the muffler. The thinner pipe is in good condition.

Labor would probably be around $20 and the tip should be less than $10. I have a bolt on from Wal-Mart for only $11.

I picked up a bolt-on tip for $15 at Autozone that I put on my stock muffler. I wanted something that looked kind of stock but just a bit bigger. Now when I put the stock muffler on with my trailer hitch it doesnt look pea-shooter-ish.
