Help! Could it be my AC Compressor

Last week my car was flood with all the rain we had in the Boston area lucky i was able to get my car out before any serious damage... any way the next day i started my car i notice this weird noise inside the car and when i open the hooked it was loud and i noticed the noised was coming from the passenger side where the belts are so i figured maybe the belts have worn out so i bought new belts and tighten everything started the car there it was again that noised... what i noticed that when i turn on the ac the noised got REALLY loud. so my question is could water have gotten into the AC compressor and somehow destroyed the compressor, however it was still blowing cold air... is there a way to fit the compressor without buying a new one which will cost me over $400

Water may have got into the compressor clutch & pully bearings. Give it a week, see if it gets quiet. If not, try to buy a clutch assy and rebuild it.

Im not too sure if your AC Comp. is bad or not.
When my car started to have this loud hissing sound from the engine bay, i took it to a well known mechanic and he told me my AC Compressor was bad.
and when i turn mine on, the sound goes away, not louder, unless there are different ways to tell if the AC Comp is bad or not.
mine is still cold also.

ok, so today i took my belts off again and spin the clutch and it was making noise so that explain the noise coming from my car... now that i have the AC compressor clutch assembly out from the car... should 1) i replace the whole thing which will cost me $500 or 2) try to rebuild the clutch assy like njmax had suggested... if i go with two how do i remove the clutch cause i tried so far and no luck... is there a tool to do this job? Please Help... thanks
