UPDATE: the harness for the crank REF sensor seems to be very loose, and the crank pulley has been chipped, maybe by a rock. This is throwing the crank sensor off ALOT and makes the car run like garbage. I'm going to switch out the crank pulley for one that works, and i'll post back.

i'm having the same problems. i'm getting strong carnking from the car but it just won't turn over .

list of things i did
-1.brand new positive wire and negative wire and cleaned contact points
0.changed engine coolant temp sensor
1.changed fuel filter
2.brand new spark plugs
3.ignition switch
4.new battery
5.pep boys checked starter (good)
6.i checked every fuse under the dash (all good)
7.checked fuses and relays in engine compartment (good)
8.fuel pump kicks in
9.after several starting attempts i get fuel smell
10.grounded the starter to tranny bolt and into battery ground
11.the only things i didn't do to this engine was the 3 sensors (2 cranks, and camshaft) but i did it on my other engine and nuthing so i doubt it
12.i too am getting the evap canister purge code maybe its something with that
13.ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
14.

this all happened after tranny replacement thinking it might be the inhibitor switch or the evap codes i'm getting but dont know to much about trannys or where this switch is located.

update: I found the problem.

My crank pulley was chipped, apparently a rock hit it on roosevelt blvd, and it sheared one side completely off, and this was throwing off the timing. The car didnt wanna start because it wasnt getting a clear signal from the crank ref sensor. I switched it out for the one in my parts car, and now the car started up an ran. The only thing is, my vacuum gauge is reading really weird. I'm gonna see if it's just a faulty gauge, as I have an extra one in my garage.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Don't you have the plastic shield that goes under the passenger side? This reminds me to put mine back on. I took it off when I was installing the traction bar.

I have one, but it's shredded. Just lets you know exactly how important it is.
