yes it is, especially if you have a vi, but if you want to tune it youself or will end up going FI, you're better off with the EU

here is the thread on jwt ecu's for 99s

Nope not at all... never, don't get it. All it will do is change the entire car's demeanor and make it faster. Not worth it at all. Save yourself the tickets.

$500 shipped is a good deal for that. I paid $575 from another .org member for my jwt 7000rpm redline. personally, if you're looking for a big performance mod with little headache, this is worthwhile. you get the ecu and plug it in. if you actually have the know how and time to tune, go w/ the EU.

i wish i knew what kinda gains the EU has over the JWT if tuned properly, but for some people it might not outweigh having to go through with installing and tuning the EU. anyway, i'm happy w/ my jwt

Ive heard good and bad things. One guy told me it was a huge difference. Another guy told me it didnt do anything. I wouldn't buy a used one for $500 bucks though. Thats about how much they are brand new. Ive heard of people selling them for $300 on the forum.

i've seen TS ecu's going for $300 maybe, but not JWT. i've seen JWT ecu's usually go for $500-600, i've seen one for even higher.

Shows ho much you know, 500 is a good average price to pay for it.
They go for 600.00 new. Plus you have to either buy another ECU to use while your prevous unit is programmed or pay the core charge, or simply do without a car for a while
The ecu takes around 3 months to get programmed, so for a no hassle quick swap setup 500.00 shipped is a good price.
The Technosquare ecus are a bit cheaper, but they do not have the raised rev limiter.

Ive owned both ecu's and they are definately worth the money.

If he buys your used jwt ecu he still has to send it to jwt to get the wires switched for a 99.

You should be thanking him, he went through and had to help set everyone straight that doesn't know about ecus after you gave everyone who read this thread a bunch of incorrect information.

btw, i have a jwt and it is defininetly worth the money

Dont worry bro, you didnt upset me. I cannot say the same for you though.
I was mearly pointing out that you do not seem to know as much as you think.
Funny thing is, Maximeltman asked on whether the ECU upgrade was a worthy mod, if do not have one nor ever used one why are you commenting?
Just because you heard from a friend doesnt make you an experienced source.
I dont see how one can express there opinion onto others when its not based on experience, but purely hearsay.

Some say the TS is more aggressive as far as the timing advance etc.

AFR is also adjusted.
If your looking to gain a more responsive low end get the ecu. The VI makes use of the raised rev limiter but the ecu upgrade is still a good mod without it. You have no intentions ofgoing with a VI then the Technosquare ECU is the one to go with.
However, if you do decide one day to get the VI you will be in the same boat that I was in and have to do an additional purchase, not too bad though because you will find somone who wants your old upgraded ecu and will get some of your money back.

Maybe, but i never dynoed the two to do a comparison.
But just going by "feel" when I did have the G Force "Technosquare" ecu it did feel like it pulled a bit harder at a lower rpm.

JWT ECU
PART DESCRIPTION:

I think you have to add another $100 for a 99 setup. The ECU Seems worth $500 shipped to me.

here is a dyno comparison performed on my car between the JWT ECU and the STOCK ECU.

peak hp gain is a few horsepower, but the overall HP and TQ gain over the whole power band is what makes this mod so nice.

i see ecu's for 96 and 99 and even some talk about it on 98's (i dont put much searching for this stuff, but read it when i see it once in a while)... but i dont hear anything about 97 ECU's.

why?

i have heard of some ecu programming devices that you can plug into the obd2 sensor and program tsuff (like something from blatz (dunno if thats spelled right?)). is that the only alternative for the 97? hrmm... more info appriciated.

96 - 97 will work as long as u get the right ecu, and u will likely get a cel with it. You'd have to use a 95/96 ecu in the 97

is the cel code from an o2 sensor? and if so, isnt there now a work around by using differnt style o2 and just re-wireing it differntly? so i read it somewhere but i think it was for 98/99 or something like that?

Here's what you have to do

First I don't recommend doing this if you're not sure about working with wiring on the ecu. Now, If you're not worried about that what you have to do is move pin 107 to pin location 105 on the ecu.

this is a diagram that sort of shows how to do it.

http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...3_102_full.jpg

Click the link if the pic didn't show.

What you have to do is disconnect the harness from the ecu, then remove the plastic cover on the harness, pop the white retaining clip and push the pin out with a small screw driver then put into slot 105. I believe slot 105 should be empty in most cases.

That could be all you have to do, but if that doesnt fix it then you have to add a ground to position 112 on the harness which can be seen in that same diagram.

Let me know if this helps
