I think it's as simple as holding the remote garage door opener up to the visor. Push the button on the remote, and the light on the visor will start blinking. While holding the remote button, push the button on the visor that you want to program. Hold both until the light stops flashing. If that's not it, RTM.

You'll have to clear the previous codes that are stored first. If one of the buttons is already programmed you wont be able to program it for yours without clearing it first. To do so you hold down the two outer buttons until the light blinks. Then program for yours.

I thought you have to put your garage opening thing to training mode?

If you push both outside buttons at the same time, you clear all codes that are already stored. If that's your intent, that's fine, but it is not a necessary first step to program a specific button (otherwise you would never be able to program all three buttons for different tasks).

I just read on infinitihelp.com that you push and hold the button you want to program first (the red light will come on), then activate the garage remote while holding it right up against the visor. The red light should start blinking slowly. Keep holding the visor button and the remote button (for as long as 20 seconds) until the red light starts flashing quickly.

Strange, my 4th gen. field service manual doesn't even mention the Homelink visor system.

Actually, you can just go to www.homelink.com. They're the folks that make the visor, and their website has lots of information of things you can do with your Homelink buttons.
