How much does a rebuild cost?(On Avg)

I want to keep my 4th gen for the next 5 years and it has 188,xxx miles on it and i was wondering how much a engine rebuild would run me?(already has a new tranny)

The car runs fine..There is alil white smoke on start-up tho...

It would be much cheaper to buy a low milege used engine and throw that in there instead of rebuilding your current engine

Yeah i agree with MOTO cuz ur high mileage motor might have excessive worn cylinder walls, heads could be slightly warped, bearing journals could have warpage/scouring on them. could cost more than u would like to rebuild instead of gettin a low mileage one, and giving it a "quick" look over from a trusted mechanic.

some VQ30DE's are 100-300 plus 200 shipping, you can possibly get a 50-100,000 mile motor for 300 bucks, car-parts.com

me and my buddy did a VQ30DEK for 600 shipped, but we did have to buy a LIM from stephenmax and a adapter plate... so total was 800 and well worth it, motor has 40k on it

hey i have a question....i have a 96 SE....but i also have the same problem...my mileage is going up quick...176k....so i want to drop in a vq30dek in there....But....is it totally compatible with the DE or do i need something else to make it work?

please let me know...thanks
