Are Maximas "Jane Max boxes", "fat" cars with bad tail?

It is posted in the infiniti forum.

Can someone explain what "could nevre get its tail to look right", "Jane Max boxes", "they can stick THAT up their catback" mean?

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=475554

"Call me arrogant. Call me misguided. I don't care, but just don't call my ride a rebadged Maxima. You can tell me how many ways the cars are similar under the hood, but it doesn't matter because the I30 has it every which way but Sunday over that 4th Gen Infiniti wannabe that could never get its stupid tail to look right!

The more I see of those plain, Jane Max boxes lurking around town, the less I see them as tin mates. No way, no how. You can talk them up until you're blue in the face, but nothing like that can replace my I30. The I is "phat," and the Max...well, it's just "fat."

The more I see 'em, the less I like 'em.

If I had my way, the next time someone tells me to look something up in the "Maxima sticky," I'll tell them that I drive an "I" and they can stick THAT up their catback.

Ok...I'm feeling better now."

The i30 is the rich man's maxima. Plain and simple.

There is only a handful of things that I would say the I30 is better, but for very obvious reasons. Autodimming rear view mirror...tilting headrests....rear seat headrests...VLSD on the touring 5MT's....but that's about all I can think of. I see no reason to say that an I30 looks better than a Maxima, especially the rear end. I for one don't like the I30's rear end at all.

As for what Conrad said...I would agree if they are buying the I30's new. BUT, are I30's actually keeping their value BETTER than the Maximas?

Anyways, besides what I stated, what keeps your car from being just a rebadged Maxima? Ok...I feel better now...and stick that up your catback...

You could have posted the link as well.

I already commented in the thread. As far as I view it GXE/SE/GLE/I30/I30T they are all just forms of the Maxima.

The infinity I30/ Nissan Maxima battle is almost as big as teh never ending battle of a Lexus/Toyota battle. It all comes down to what kind of image do u wanna give, pulling up to a BIG business lunch in a Camry, or a ES. If i saw a client drive up in a camry i would have DOZENS OF lil thoughts running through my head, but if i saw a ES rolling up, i would immediatly think "wow this guy knows his siht and is hear to talk business, not MPG on his 4 cylinder camry"

I would say that an Infiniti is essentially a maxima. They are the same cars.

I dont think he is talking about the 4th gens is he? I have always wanted a Maxima because I loved the way they looked and come one now our tail lights look faaaaaaaaaaar better than the 4th Gen I30's. The whole car just looks cleaner and meaner.

He is more likely talking about 4G maxima since he has an I30.

I have to disagree. The 4th gen doesn't look A LOT better, I'd say that cosmetically, they look about equal.

Except for the option for VLSD as noted above, I agree fully. Maximas just seem sportier.

yeah, maybe the I30 does look better stock, i dont know. i would never badmouth the car because it is a nissan with same engine, etc.

moving onto even more worthless babble. the Maxima SE should have gotten some sort of LSD not an infiniti, someone must have gotten the cars rolling down the line and it was to late once they figured out the error ? lol
