Paint or polish transmission?

Now that I have my tranny apart, I'm thinking about hitting the case/bellhousing with a sandblaster and painting it. Any ill affects/cautionary advise when it comes to sandblasting the case?

Any opinions on color? I'll probably just go with a clear coat. Hell, I might as well do my calipers at the same time.

Don't get anything on the sealing surfaces. Start by having it cleaned in a hot tank.

Once it's clean, just spray some clear on it for a nice, natural finish.
Keep the mating surface raw.
