i actually thought they stole your car for a minute.

Thieves will get what's coming to them, but i've seen many threads about people getting their whole ride stolen (ie-Araffio,Sadler). Try to look at the brighter side of it. Pm me if you need to talk.

my 240 has been abused 3 times by people trying to steal it and as long as it remains in its entirety I'm happy even though it does suck getting the lock cylinders fixed all the time

I know you wanted to take the best precaution possible, but you may have jumped the gun on that install. Paying almost 900 for that alarm to be installed is too much man.

+1 on that man.. I got the exact same alarm and installed the exact same modules + the dual stage shock sensor and it was $220 U.S. for the alarm (off ebay) and $350 CDN (~$300 U.S.) labour + additional modules to get it all installed.

Better safe than sorry.. but you should have done just a little bit of research on where to buy/get the alarm installed

i have been doing research on this for over a year. nobody will install it for less than $750 @ an AUTHORIZED dealer. yeah the ones you get on ebay or other websites are cheap but you dont get the warranty with it. and SOME of the units are FAKE with viper badging all over. either way i paid exactly $800 out the door..... he is waving the 54 bux of tax.

I bought the 791xv for my girl for christamas one year from an authorized dealer for $500 installed. That was with no addational sensors. I think you also paid a little to much.

It may also be more expensive on the west coast. East coasters can have Don install it for about 400 bills. Nevertheless, i'm sure it will give you a piece of mind and extra security.

I bought the unit off ebay but got it installed at an Authorized Dealer (Future Shop.. same company as Best Buy in the States)

as long as you're happy and feel secured though that's what counts

heh i dont care. $50 more or less. trust me im the type of the person that gets a quote at least at 5 different places before i reach in my pocket. $550 installed is the BASIC unit with whatever comes with it ! i have went with 3 extras. glass, motion and radar sensor.... which add up to +$155 in parts alone

Just wondering what part of CA are you? Over here in So cal, well at least the 626 areas a basic Viper 791 unit is $350 without engine start install by AUTHORIZED dealer. With all that extra stuff you got usually is around $500-$550 max. And that was what I paid 2 years ago when I had it install on my car.

Ooo, I got it!

Acrylic! Some ladies use it to hold their nails on! My twin sister bent her real nail back out of the nail bed, because the acrylic held the fake nail to the real one so well! I've seen that a lot.

Off topic here:

I, too worry about people keying my car or damaging it. Mine is almost stock, but I have a org decal in the rear window, and a few goodies elsewhere. There is a lot of animosity amongst car groups here. Ironically enough, I am a MOM with a ten year old girl and a teenage daughter. I don't want to do too much and have them think I am a young kid.

I'd like to tell you that I hope you catch them, but I would be concerned about jail time for you!

Very sorry to hear this Mike, gotta be very frustrating. Hope you find out who did it and get it put back on. But on the other hand, it now got you to put that alarm on so it may have prevented something worse happening in the future. Anyways, best of luck.

I think you really got your rear handed to you with the alarm and install. Almost $900 (I could've replaced be engine for that price!!!) is really tipping the scales . Some places do really crappy installs. I put my ebay equivalent unit in my self for $150 including shipping with almost all the same features. Yeah it might not have a warranty but I'm absolutely sure it won't be easy to get away with stealing anything out of my car or the car itself w/o me knowing about it. It performs well and helps me get a good sleep. The warranties that come with the units don't cover very much if you read the fine print carefully. You're better off leaving it to your comprehensive coverage on your insurance.

You should be happy that's the only thing they stole considering you're sporting some really nice rims. I would've had the alarm on the second after mounting the rims. They could have left you on crates and you would've had a much larger rant. I've seen lots of stock 6th gens on bricks and crates in the Philly area. I wonder how many 4th gen & 5th gen orger's are riding on stolen rims and don't know it.

Good luck finding the person who stole your spoiler

I have a question for everyone here with the Viper791, when the pager tells you that your car maybe getting broken into, what would you guys do? I mean I'd come out there and see what's up but what if the person that is breaking into your car has a gun or any sort of deadly weapon. Just wondering because confronting the guy breaking into your car is somewhat the same as getting car-jacked, its the same confrontation only you walked up on the thief.

I got my 791 for $380 installed at a authorized dealer + lifetime warranty.thats extremly expensive. coulda installed the viper, plus GPS tracking or lowjack for that much. but at least your safe now.

dr max-
i think about the same thing every night, of how i will confront the person braking into my car and i still have noe clue what ill do lol. only thing i do have planned is getting my bb gun and opening the window screaming and cocking the gun so he can think its real(it sounds real wen u **** it) lol. my other plan is to purchase a paintball gun and modify it to really cause some body damage, n just shot away.

Good ? , I keep a Louisville Slugger in the trunk so I could always grab that, but it def' isn't worth your own harm or even worse over a silly punk tryna take your whip. Just swallow your pride and call 5-0

currently the car is in the shop gettin the system installed but IF i ever hear the pager go off due to tampering. the FIRST thing i will do is reach in my pocket for my cell phone and dial 911. thats the SMARTEST thing to do. by the time u get to your car, it might be gone or whatever. and if u decide to engage in a fight with the asshat, the cops would show up soon. i think i would pretty much gather a few people around and run after them ***s !

and those of you that say i got raped on the install. sure, yes i know i got raped but maybe by $100. if i had wasted a coupla weeks, maybe i coulda gotten it for 700 installed instead of 800. i went with three EXTRA parts that dont come with the package. they add up to well over $100 itself. and those that got it for $400 installed. how clean is ur job? labor is about 85 bux. sure yeah, they cut ur original wire and tapped it with a wire tap. the place that is wiring mine up, they run BRAND new wires. they dont do ANY tapping. they are running all new lines and soldering ! there is a difference between a CLEAN install and a QUICK install !

You can modify the PB gun by upping the PSI on it. If you have one of those expensive PB gun with a chip, you can get it programmed to fire more ***** at each trigger action.

only problem would be hitting my damn car while shooting the guy lol. but on serious note, i would call the cops ASAP as well and see what the theif is doing (my room window next to my car), if i see that his being succesfull at w/e trying to steal or getting the car to crank, then ill defently scream out the window or do something from a distance. Its not worth going outside and possilby get shot over the car that can be replaced or fixed. and plus my car dosnt even turn on, cuz the ignition switch is bad, and the 00vi install dosnt let it start normally lol. so i doubt the car can be stolen. only thing inside would prob be taken which is basically only the radio. nothign more

I'm talking to VIP Max right now and asked the same question. He said he'll call the cops too. But what if the cops take too long which they normally do? They usually consider stuff like this low priority. They won't hall *** to get there.
