Damn Immobolizer!

For the second time within a year my 99 had the immobolizer f*ck with me . I doubt that someone tried to steal my car, so I was wondering wtf can cause this? Now I have to get the car towed and spend $85 at the dealer to get the keys reprogrammed. Also is there a way to turn it off? Maybe pull a fuse? lol I don't know.

I know this might not be directly related to your problem, but when the immobolizer in my GTI was acting up, it was due to a dead battery. A jump start quickly solved that though.

Good luck

My battery was fine, and the remote was fine also, I think there is just something wrong with my car .

I wonder if there is some kind of design defect in the immobilizer from that particular year. I never had a problem with the one in my 2000 I30, yet I've seen so many similar posts like yours....

I had that problem once with my car, the battery was fine, and I don't have keyless entry. Sucked big time but at least I had free towing through my insurance. I have a 99 se limited. If you find a way around it let me know.

Update: Well I got it towed to the dealership and he said that since nobody tried to steal my car, the ecu might be dropping the key programs, so he has to hook up a laptop to it and yadda yadda yadda charge me $125-150 bucks, man I hope that it will get fixed. I will be mad as f*ck if I have to pay more.
