low gasoline light
the light is the car's way of telling you that it's your own fault if it dies out on you, but 50 miles seems like alot on the low gas light, i've never actually seen mine turn on cuz I fill up when it's half-way below the last quarter.
When the light comes on I need about 15 gallons to refill. The tank has an 18gallon capacity. Since you're sloshing the tank when you turn, brake, or accelerate, it's really unlikely to get to the last gallon.
I've never been lame enough to find out where it starts stalling. If you're getting 25mpg, you won't get more than 75mi. Probably less than 50.

When you're down that low, you run the risk of burning out your fuel pump. The gasoline acts as a coolant for the fuel pump. I just helped someone that burned out her fuel pump on a 2003 Pathfinder. It cost over $400 to get it replaced. You are penny wise and pound foolish when you try to get the last drop of gas out of your tank.
I was stationed in Germany and had to drive with my light on for about 25 to 30 miles because the gas station was a ways away. I was doing well over 80mph the whole time mind you. Made it no problem but was sweating bullets the whole time. Don't try to find out keep it filled.
I'm in the same range as everyone else. I'll regularly drive 30 miles after the light comes on, 40 miles sometimes if there isn't a cheaper gas station around. I haven't had any problems.
