The new ULTIMATE LED instrument cluster...sneak peek!

I'll have this done in a week or two...just waiting on some LEDs right now. This was a very rough prototype utilizing 28 SMT LEDs and a TO220 voltage regulator for stability..I should have a cleaner one done this week.

White or blue, I have yet to decide. But I think I will use the uber cheap ebay superflux, they look pretty good. There is a thread comparing them to the lumileds ones on hidplanet.

These are actually SMT LEDs, not Superflux LEDs. I wanted to use SMT LEDs as they are a thinner profile, and a super-concentrated light. That's not to say that the Superflux LEDs aren't equally as good...it's just that for this application, it's A LOT easier to get the PCB to fit with SMTs over Superfluxes.

I bet we'll be able to see your guages from a block away.

but damn, that's hot! I'm a little worried it'll be too bright for night time usage. What MCD did you use there? The guage looked extremely bright as the background looks like it is daytime when you took it.

Only time will tell.

A meager 2000MCD @ around 25mA regulated at 12V.

Well, don't be mistaken here. I'm not the greatest photographer in the world, and the pic may lend itself to be a bit brighter than what it actually is...but make no mistake, these things will indeed rival if not exceed the gauges on the new Accord.
