good - looks good, handles well, reduces the boat like feel.
bad - sometimes hard to get up steep driveways, easier to bottom out, potholes are more noticeable

I heard if you go too low it can mess up your axle. Some people posted something about the axle being replaced after lowering. Search for it.

you axles can get messed up depending on how low you go. I've never heard of a strut/spring setup killing any axles. Its pretty much a coilover setup slammed could kill your axle(s)

No matter what setup you go with, you will be gaining handling peformance, and losing some of your comfortable ride (this will depend on the setup, but none will feel as comofortable as stock).

Your car will also develop creaks and rattles slightly faster than it normally would.

The H&R/Illumina combo will actually be one of the least likely to give you any negative side-effects, though.

Pro: driving under tractor trailers on the highway.
Con: realizing your not that low and you shouldn't be doing that.

the ride is always rough, if you live in a city where the roads are far from perfect you can grow sick of the harsh dips and potholes, road cracks..

I had a mild drop with H & Rs + TOK blues, never had axle issues before that, since then been through 2 pairs. Coincidence? I think not.

what kind of struts do u have??? i have quite a nice smooth ride with mine.... yea u hate anywhere that the pavement isnt perfect..but may i recommend if u go thru lowering u should definetly stiffen the body!!!!
i have megan springs(2inch drop), kyb agx gr2 struts, front strut, rear swaybar,of course all energy suspension mounts...

pros= great ride, looks great, handles better, also looses that ugly 4x4 stance of a stock maxima...once you lower (unless u cut springs or for some reason do a half *** job of lowering your car) most people tend to like it a hell of alot better than stock...

cons= unpaved surfaces really irritate me(plus unless u want your alignment to go out, u have to ride slow!), speedbumps and speedtables are always FUN!, also one thing to remember is most anyone will spot a lowered car over a stock height car(cops included). ALIGNMENTS(unless u live in a metro area, most shops in north georgia cant get a lowered car(with body kit) up on there alightment machines!! i usually have to drive a distance to get mine aligned... that is the worst con for me..... very very inconvenient...

thats my two cents for what its worth...

if you live in an area that gets a lot of snow like here in wisconsin, a definite con would be driving on snowy roads, it sucks in a lowered car

I was thinking about getting the Illumina suspension kit that comes with the springs....Is this a good buy or should I think about getting a different spring. I don't want to go too low, but I would like to notice the drop.
