Replacing front wheel bearing

I need to replace my front wheel bearing... and was wondering how much people paid to get theirs done. I was told about $370 with allignment by a shop, and $500 if the hub needs replacement too. This seems ridiculous to me, I found a place that sells the front wheel bearing for 45 bucks, and the hub for 115. Thats 160 in parts... its no extra labor to do the hub since its all at the same place... why in the hell would it cost $500 to do both.. I have no clue rather I need to replace the hub or not, but am preparing for the worst. Lemme know how much this should cost... I can't do it myself because I dont have a press... nor any tools to that kinda work at home...

I bought a complete spindle from the junkyard for 75 bucks and the bearing and seals for around 75 bucks as well. Took the to the whole thing to a machine shop with a press and they pressed out the old and pressed in the new for $25

The pressing part alone can run a couple hours of labor. I paid $100 to have the bearings removed and replaced, and that's just handing them the spindle and replacement bearings.

I have done this myself and it's really not that hard. If you have the room to store it, I would consider getting a press. I bought mine from Harbor Frieght for about $160. It totally handled the job and I've used it about 4 other times since.
If not, others are right, machine shops will do it for between $25 and $100.
For me the worst part was sperating the lower ball joint. It has some sort of adheisive from Nissan and is hard to break. I had to use my clothespin style breaker to crack it w/o damageing the boot. I did the bearing job on mine for about $75 including the seals. It took about 3.5 hours. Go for it!

The bearings alone cost over $75. Where do you get your parts?

I'm doing mine right now (see my post front end rebuild)
They cost $65 each from AutohausAZ. I'm using motorvate's press method (www.motorvate.com)

I'll post pics as it progresses
