Vibrating noise after installing budget Y and B

So about 5 or 6 weeks ago i put on the budget y and b pipes (stock catand muffler) and now there is a pretty obvious and annoying vibration metal on metal what sounds like is coming from the y-pipe. it souinds like there is a metal bracket around the pipe being vibrated when i accelerate. ive been driving in basicaly constant rain and that could have loosened somethin up. its most obvious accellerating in 2nd gear but can be heard in 1st and 3rd. its a pretty loud noise. ive had the gas station take a look at it and my mechanic quickly and we cant find anything that could be making the noise. any help or suggestions would be great. thanks

might be a bracket/hanger somewhere. i haven't been underneath the car in a long time, so i don't remember. just put it on jack stands or wheel ramps and take a look under the car. should be pretty obvious. check the cat as well. some aftermarket y-pipes are a little longer and push the cat and b-pipe back a little. one of the heatshields may be banging against a pipe.

Did you let the Y pipe hang by the flexi section when installing.. jackup the car and inspect your flex section.

Just for interests sake - my flexi before the new y

What rpms is the noise at? I know your manual, but when I'm in park and rev up to 4 or 5k, then let off the gas I hear a noise. Sounds like metal vibrating somewhere. It's hard to locate the noise. Do you get any hissing type noises?

check the metal bar that is bolted across the Bpipe to support it.

I'm going to say you have an exhuast leak somehwere...and I know all about that. I just finished up my WSP Y install (after previously installing my custom 2.5" B and 5th Gen Muffler), and after working on my car almost daily for the last week, it's getting pretty tiresome.

I had this same problem. Make sure you remove the braket that holds the stock y-pipe to the tranny i believe. It is held in by 2 bolts if i remember right and you did not use it to install the aftermarket y. The easiest thing for you to do is just jack the car up and make sure nothing is touching the y pipe.

Is it the bees in the can noise? That is a problem with some y pipes. Budget apparently doesn't have that problem, but warpspeed is prone to it. Just look under your car for the noise source and that will give you more info to go on.

that noise originates from having an aftermarket y-pipe with an unlined flex section. older budget pipes had this problem. as far as i know all new y-pipes do not have this problem. if you do encounter it, however, there is a cheap and fast fix. purchase header-wrap/muffler-wrap from you local auto parts store and wrap the flex section with it.

the RMPs im not really sure id say 2.5k it seems like the heart of 2nd gear which is very annoying. i can hear it a little when im parked in nutral and rev it but nothing like in gear. i get a hissing noise ya which is normal. its just his started up after driving in rain it seems like and a little over a month after the pipes were put in.

why would this be an exaust leak? its metal on metal vibration. i had a little leak in my greddy SP B-pipe and it was just loud. nothing like this. plus the pipes are a month old.

which bracket is this exactly? i didnt think they-pipe was attached to the tranny. i thought it was bolted straight to the headers and the hangers at the Cat and muffler...

no its not bees in the can noise.

help me please....

tbombs32,

It has to be the metal bar that goes underneath the B-Pipe. It's towards the back of your exhaust. Get under the car and shake it around (up and down). You will hear the B-Pipe bang metal.

retighten everything and check for metal to metal contact and it should be better. Exhausts lossen after they heat up, so a final tighting would be good

When it rains hard it seems like I get water in my exhaust pipes. Sounds like the exhaust is gargling water and banging something.
