New engine and tranny for 99 SE
New engine and tranny for 99 SE
Can anyone tell me the best place to buy a stock engine and tranny for a 99 SE around the Tennessee area. Also, how much am I looking to spend. Would it be better to just rebuild the old one. Thanks

If your tranny is manual...I'd probably rebuild it using the following link as a guide (http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/805) and use a 5th gen clutch (See this thread: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=357673). Otherwise you'll find your best selection at car-parts.com.
However, the engine is another matter and you should look for one on car-parts.com . Also, seeing as you are in TN...you most likely have a Federal Emissions engine so when you search for the engine make sure you select "(VQ30DE, VIN "C", 4th digit), exc. Calif". If you have a cali spec engine then select the second bullet. I forget how to tell which one you have originally, but I'm sure it's in the stickies. Donate 20 bucks and search for it. That 20 bucks will pay itself off more than once in the long run. And good luck with the job.
