subwoofer in Maxima

Guys need a lil. help here to figure out some things.
My friend checked my system in car and said that sub can really damage things in car like some sensors and stuff like that and that my dashboard will start falling off in year.
My system is nothing special just some 10" kickers and sony amp.
So what do you guys think. True false busted

My friend has a massive sub-woofer in his Del-Sol and it has loosened some nuts and bolts on his car that he has to tighted up. And his bumper was a little loose so when ever the bass would kick really hard it would shake and scratch the paint a little.

If there's anything loose to start with it'll get worse. But, my son's Sentra has a 200W sub amp driving a 10" labyrinth cabinet that occupies most of the trunk. Nothing has dropped off yet, the main problem is that the mirror and windows vibrate so much it's like being on the bridge of the Enterprise.
Nice looking car BTW.

i dont know about your dash falling off but it's possible that you can loosen some bolts over the years you carrying those subs in your trunk, making all that rattle..that's why i took mine out about 2 years ago plus i like it like that better..

How is that possible from noise vibrations

i have a pioneer with jl components in front and co-axes in rear amped out to 125 rms with a 6 channel 450 watt jl amp and a alpine e-series sub in trunk rmsed out to 225 so i dont have a problem with a loud system as long as you set it up right and use dynomat in trunk and doors. also have i-pod with satellite hook up as well. works for me.

"How is that possible from noise vibrations"

-- It is from exactly that, vibrations. The bass is a vibration at 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, or whatever. By that I mean cycles or sound pressure, there are some different ways to say it. But the 'vibrations' loosen the bolts come loose from the vibration of the consistant bass hits. The higher the pitch, the faster the cycle, or vibration. This is what loosens everything up. It is usually what is closest to the speakers and where they are aimed.

my old civic tended to rattle apart....i had 2 eclipse 10's with a rockford 900 watt amp. imagine a small civic hatchback with that in it. my windshield had an existing crack that actually got bigger, the rearview mirror fell off (hit me in the knee when it did and it hurt like hell), and the bolts in my license plate worked themselves out....all this and burning 2 alternators....i pretty much got out of the whole car audio thing--i'd rather buy performance mods

A lot of ex-honda owners on here are concerned about their cars rattling apart from the subwoofers. The key thing to consider is that these are nissan maximas, not some hippie mobile hondas. Maxima = No Fally Aparty. Civic = Japan's Hyundai.

I have two polk db 12' subs in the polk box powered by 850 watts in parallel. No your car will not fall apart. Some nuts and bolts my loosen a bit, but that is all. If you are concerned about your car taking damage from the bass then use a good vibration dampener throughout your car. I have heard excellent reviews on second skin damplifier. I am getting that next. Tsunami Silencer doesn't stop the rattle in my car. Oh, and your rear view mirror will pretty much become useless with a good sub and amp. With a lot of power, you might as well forget about the side mirrors too.

i have had my system in my car for the 3 years i have owned the car. no problems with things coming loose. the only thing that is a prob is the rearview mirror always moves from its original position, no matter how tight it is screwd on. but all i have to do is move it back and turn the volume down and its fine.
i put rubber washers on my liscence plate and on my trunk where the spoiler bolts in to reduce annoying rattle.
i have 2 12' subs each pushing a 1/4 ohm stable. about 130 dB on the average. otherwise my ears start to hurt.

everything will be fine. Tell your friend that he doesn't know anything because a 200w sub will not really loosen anything. You need more like 4 300w rms subs with the right song to start loosening bolts.

This thread is full of more crap than I've seen in a long time. I won't bother quoting all the idiocy but to the poster your friend is a retard. I have roughly 1000w pushing two 15s and my dash is still intact, none of my sensors have failed and they have caused no scratches in my paint.

My third brake light in the rear deck is rattling like crap. If I cant fix it I will just take it out and redo the deck cloth so the hole will cover up.

4th gens tend to have squeeky dashboards and other interior parts that need squeek tape applied. License plate and spoiler might need some cushioning but other than that, it's plug and play.
