Catz Zeta ?????
#1
Anyone put the CATZ ZETA HID kit in. Is it worth buying, or should I save up for a real HID kit. Will this Zeta kit cook my headlight housing(97 max has plastic housing).
Good and Bad comments Holla Back.

i have the catz zeta system on my car (99 maxima se). first of all, i wouldn't call it a HID system. granted, it does increase the brightness of the headlights, but it is still far off from HID. the closest real hid system i would compare it to is the acura tl hid lights. maybe not quite as bright, but close. depending on what surface you are driving on, sometimes it seems as white as the acura's.
what the catz zeta does is bump the voltage from ~12volts to ~14.4 volts (this is what several people told me, i never actually measured it).
my 99 maxima se has plastic headlight housing (not sure if it is same as 97), but i have not had any problems yet.
i do like the increase in the brightness (and whiteness) of the light. i also like that it isnt as much as increasing to 85W+ bulbs (then you start having the heat and melting issues). i used the sylvania cool blues 9004 with the zeta and the light is nice and white.
they say there is a decrease in the life of the bulb, due to the higher voltage, etc. but i haven't blown a bulb yet (had it about 5 - 6 months now).
i got mine for $199, off of a group deal.
if you have any more questions, feel free to AIM me or reply to this post.
you might do a search, i had posted some other comments and some calculations of the current, wattage, etc. of a catz system.

overall, i'm happy with the kit. i do a lot of driving (44 mi to/from work), so i use it all the time.
i am not sure which bulbs will give you the benz/bimmer look. i have only used the sylvania cool blues so far. i have some piaa superwhites, but i havent tried them with the catz, but i would expect them to be just like the cool blues.
