my service engine soon light came on, I had the code ran and was told it was a catalytic problem. I'm taking it in to have a full diagnostic run. was wondering if anyone has had a y-pipe installed at the dealership.

Makes 'em wonder if it is a mod or something about to fall off. You do get used to it, especially if you are accelerator friendly. Anyways, mine is a budget stainless Y-pipe. Couldn't have dealt with a better company. Shipped fast, on time, and in proper condition. It was the cheapest stainless/ high outpup y-pipe available IMO. Canadian $ translates to money saved boys. I Definetly give it props. Just temper your expectations if you have an auto.
I have the budget Y and a hissing nosie on heavy acceleration, too. It doesn't seem to be related to RPM as much as WOT -- even WOT @ 4k RPM causes the noise. It seems like it comes out of the flex section. I'm not sure if it's a defect or every Y-pipe makes that noise.

Budget is the former name of the company. Now they are called LSS Exhaust.

I've had my budget for six months and it hisses badly when you accelerate. I've checked for leaks and found none. I called twice to try to get some advice from them on what to do about this and to see if it is defective and can't get anyone to call back. So for everyone thats swinging on their nuts, I assume you've never had a problem. If you do, and try to call, don't expect any service at all. They suck!

I heard that some budgets had problems and that is why I went with Warpspeed. I got the aluminized y for 199 shipped. it came about 6 days after I ordered it. The shipping was only 3 days. I would recommened going with Warpspeed and they are super awesome and nice. going to install mine in the morning.

This isn't meant to go off topic, but what's the opinion of the SSAutoChrome headers/Y-pipe combo from eBay for $280 shipped? Even if were to end up doing the Y-pipe only, and the headers later down the road, isn't this a good deal for another stainless steel, full mandrel bent Y-pipe, with all gaskets and hardware - as opposed to spending $220 on a Y-pipe alone?

I enjoy cruising around town without a loud exhaust. I've had modified Mustangs and all, but I really love the quality of the ride in my Maxima. I have a 5-Speed and when I am going 80 mph down the highway my rpm's are around 3000-3100 (I wish Nissan would have given me that 6th gear. Having said that, I am currently stone stock. I need to replace the Y-pipe because of rust, and the O2 sensors and catalytic converter because of the infamous PO-420 SES code. Here is what I am thinking, and was hoping to get some feedback. Replace the Y-pipe with a warpspeed Y-pipe, and replace the catalytic converter with a new stock one. And leave the stock cat-back exhaust. I don't mind a little sound at WOT, but I DO NOT want a noticeable audible change from stock when cruising down the highway or driving like a granny around town. So what do you all think?

I dont know much about that company but my rule of thumb is stay away from anything dealing with performance when it comses to ebay. Just remember this, you get what you pay for.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Since I am new here, I cannot access the search function for this forum, nor can I begin my own post. Again, will putting in a Warpspeed Y-pipe, and leaving everything else stock cause a noticeable audible difference when cruising around town and on the highway when I am taching 3200rpms?

The test pipe is a straight pipe that replaces the main cat.

the SSAUTOCHROME manifold/Y pipe should def. work..... but the insides of the manifold might have a little slag, if it does, send it out to get sand blasted!!

and plus they have a 30day warrenty, anything happen, send it right back

SS autochrome does not take their time honing out their products...they are very rough on the inside, but i guess it will still be a lot more free flowing than the stock one...

i just put my warpspeed one on i dont think you can really tell a difference in sound. Even at WOT its slightly louder but only if you have your windows down/really listen for it. How do you disconnect your negative battery cable? I'm scared of electrocuting myself

just unbolt it and remove it, its not a big deal. just make sure you don't connect the two terminals...

No. It will be stock sounding (nothing) at HWY speeds.

You may notice a little resonance in the 1700-2200 rpm range (i.e. crawling through the neighborhood). When I had only my Warpspeed y-pipe on I was amazed at how quiet it was. I can only speak for myself but that was my experience, hope it helps.

Only if you stick out your tongue while holding on to the cable with your fingers crossed.

OK my real question is, you stated above in another post that you just put a y-pipe on, hence you installed it, yet you have no common knowledge on how to disconnect a negative battery cable?....

i meant just had it put on, no access to a torch. I dont know all my common knowledge goes out the window when it comes to car i'm very cautious and like pictures... but i guess you're right its like saying will i get electrocuted if i touch the negative terminal of a 9-volt.
