Tranny Temp Gauge question.

I just installed an autometer transmission temperature gauge, and I tested it by driving around for about 10 minutes. I noticed the gauge needle berly moved it was almost at 100degree's (didnt notice movement), once I turned the car off i noticed the needle drop which indicates that the gauge was getting some kind of reading from the sending unit. Could it have actually be at around less than 100 degrees or is the sensor not getting enough fluid to give a good reading? here is a picture of the T i made to mount the sensor. I used an 18gauge wire as instructed in the manual .

BUMP!

Perhaps it needs to be grounded? In those lines there's enough pressure for that sender to get fluid to it for a reliable reading.

actually ur right, the instructions said that when you tap into the transmisison fluid pan it should be providing a ground automatically, but since i didnt tap into the pan then i dont have a ground. so i have to somehow attach a wire to the sensor.
