Need help FAST!!!!!!
ok, heres the thing last night i did the clearence light mod....it went smoothly, but tonight on my way home from work this saturn sc2, bout a 97 tried to race me....it was a five speed, and im an auto....needless to say i smoked it, but when i was accelerating hard i noticed the the clearance lights, and my dash lights went out..along w/the tails...so i knew i blew the fuse......don't know why but i did.....so i went to my shop and changed the fuse....it got them to turn back on but then i backed out of my shop to head for home and noticed some smoke coming from my passenger side clearence light.....so i imedialty turned the lights and car off......looked pulled the clearence light out and the wires were FRIED...... f u c k......so the ? is, why did it do this..has it happened to anyone else...and how do i fix it....cuz i disconnected the wire from the clearence light so i could have tails but it still starts to smoke......so i cant drive at night untill i figure this stupid think out.....
You prolly used the wrong polarity wires when you were doing the parking/fog lights mod. Doublecheck your connections and if the wires are correct, make sure it's grounded!
You didn't happen to put the bulb in upside down for the clearance light, did you? The clearance lamp is dual filament, but only the 7w element is used normally (there is also a 15w element which can be used if you reverse the bulb).

Is the connector fried too? Sound like there's a short inside the socket of that light. By the way, did you replace the blown fuse with the same size? If you put too large of a fuse in it's place it may not blow when it's supposed too and could cause a fire. You should have a 7.5A in there, you can put a 10A to compensate for the load but no larger.
First you have to cut and remove the burnt wires. Solder in new wires and heat shrink or tape the connections. I'm assuming you have enough good wire coming out of the connector to join them. Next, find that short! It must be in that light socket. Once you repair the short, replace the fuse with the correct size! If it blows, you didn't fix the short.
what do you think would be the most likely reason that would cause it to short.......what i figured was that the current running through the wires was to great....which caused the wires to get hot.....which caused them to melt..which caused the fuse to blow.....then i figured the reason the fuse blew was because once the insulation was gone....the +/- were touching which would cause it to blow the fuse.......doesn't that sound logical......also, seeing how i have to replace the wires, if i use i bigger gauge wire...wouldn't that make it so the wires wouldn't get so hot and melt.....cuz the bigger wire would be able to handle more current running through it......thanks in advance!
The +/- wires must be touching. This is the short. The problem is where? I think it's inside the light socket. The original fuse and wiring is enough to handle the load of the higher wattage filament bulb. You can use larger wire, it won't hurt, but it won't fix the problem. Try this, repair you wiring, replace your fuse with a 7.5 or 10A and UNPLUG both cornering lights. Now, turn on you park lights. Plug in your corners one at a time while watching your park lights. If the fuse blows when you plug in one side you found you short. I the fuse blows with the corners unplugged, you know the short is not in the corners but in the wiring.
ok, today i took a look at my situation.....I lucked out....the power wire(red/blue) was only charred a little bit....actually it stopped before it even got to the relay box....the ground well not so lucky its totally charred...but it's an easy fix....but (there's always a but) when i was checking out the socket to see what the hell it was shorting out for i noticed something...that little black piece in the socket that you solder the wire too..well...i switched the wires properly but when i did it i acidentally turned the black piece upside down.....could this be the reason it got all messed up.....its the only thing i noticed that was different about the other side...and one more thing i just decided that i need to order a new socket for that side....and the power ground harness cuz the wires were fried up to close to the harness to splice into it..so i need a new one of that too....where do i get one.....there are no local nissan dealers...cuz the one that we did have here in town got busted for a bunch of stuff so the irs...and a bunch of other agencies shut him down...can you help me with were to get these parts??
