replacing door inserts?

Do you have to take the entire door panel off to replace the insert or is there an easier way?

Door panel will have to come off, if your actually replacing the door inserts. If you doing an overlay then it wouldnt be necassary.
What are you replacing? Cloth for leather?
If so, its not going to be a direct swap.

I actually just bought some vinyl and I'm going to take the cloth inserts out and fit the new vinyl too them.

I just did a semi-custom leather swap.

Well, thats not going to work.
With the cloth setup, you cannot remove the "insert" The cloth is attached to foam which is glued to the door panel. The leather versions are actual inserts that have tabs that insert into the door panel and secure by folding them back.
Your best bet is going to be to lay the Vinyl on top of the cloth.

yeah, I tried to do this too, and I gave up and just put the cloth back on (badly at that). Probably not worth it IMO.

I'm going to give it a go with just using spray adhesive and cutting the vinyl very precisely. I allready experimented with tucking it in around the edges, so I think it should come out allright. I'll make sure to post pics of the final product. Thanks for the help guys.
