Noise when turning..

So about a week ago my started making this clunky-springy noise. That's the best i can describe it really, and i have no idea what it is. It started about a week ago.

It's also more noticable at low speeds (turning into driveways, in parking lots, etc.) and doesn't seem to be as apart if i just turn the wheel slightly for wide corners.

Anyone have any ideas as to what's wrong with my car?

had the same problem ....i knew that the noise was coming from the right rear brake... so they changed the rear brake organic pads for 130 bucks... 80 dollars labor included.. the noise wasnt continious...i could not hear it when i speeded up more than 15/20 miles..then when i slowed down i turned..i'd hear it again.

hey guys the problem is your wheel bearing. More likely than not if you look under your car you will see a split boot which allows grease to come out and dirt and debris to come in. Even if the boot is not torn it will be your wheel bearing. Be careful that it is not your entire hub, I kept changing my wheel bearing and then after 6-10 months the noise came back, the inside of my hub where the bearing was there was a deep scratch that kept killing the bearing. It was never my axles and the noise that everyone is describing I had the whole time. Good Luck

I also had this issue after I "Slammed" my car. This is back when I was a SUSUBER NOOB, but the spring was moving around, it was not sitting right on the strut, and I think some rubber was worn away, sorry I am not much more help I just do not remember

i checked my wheel bearings and they seemed fine, there was no play in the wheel at all when i moved it up and down and side to side

chcek your cv joints. the sound is more of a clicking. you hear it mostly at low speeds, check by cranking your car to the left or right as far as it goes and drive slowly. if you hear repetitive clicking is is most likely your cv joints. just got mine done for $150 installed for one side, i have to do the other one soon. like 7/94 95 max said there will be split boots, this is a sign of bad joints. you can buy boot kits if it hasn't been long and you can get remanufacture kits to install yourself, but it's shiitty work, and the boot replacement requires almost the same amount of work (disassembling the axel)

If it happens only at low speeds with your wheels turned almost all the way especially if you go over a some kind of bump or low spot on the road (like entering driveway) - more likely it's one of your suspension or steering links catches a loose corner of one of the covers (this thing that covers engine bay from underneath. Lift your car and check for any loose or bent corners - maybe just as simple as that. I have this problem with my pickup (yes I know it's not a Maxima...), had it for the past 6 years or so - never bothered to fix it though.
