y-pipe on autotragic

I know the y-pipe gives good gains. But I have a 96 GLE which we all know is an autotragic. my question is Will I feel a good increase in power with a y-pipe and a b-pipe from warspeed? with everything else stock.

I'm slightly curious about the gains of a y on an automatic too. I know that the gains will be there, but my curiosity is about where the gains will be felt. As we all know, the thing that sucks goose ***** about the auto (other than not beng able to manipulate our low end) is the laggy low end pull of it. Will adding a Y reduce our low end pull or increase it? Or is the Y strickly a high end thing?

You will feel a difference, I know I do. You feel the difference moreso in the low and mid end powerband.

Really? Wonderful. Looks like I'll have to start taking a closer look at them.

Sorry to ask, but do you have an auto too?

the y pipe and b pipe.... are they REALLY worth it for the autotragic.....I mean if i spend $350 on the pipes will i REALLY FEEL a big difference. What kind of hp gain should I expect. (or your best estimate). The reason I ask is because my b-pipe is leaking and I have to change that anyway...so i figured i'd get the y-pipe also. But if the gains are not going to be that great I would just fix my b-pipe and get those euro black headlights from custom enterprise. What do you guys think?

Yes they are worth the money. I didnt even think about the diff in gains between an auto and manual for the y-pipe.. I felt a huge diff after I added the y-pipe to my auto 96 max. Its not even that expensive just get budgets and you wont regret it at all.

What low end lag? My car pulls from 1000+ (albeit 3000+ it pulls harder, that's the VQ...not the tranny).

if you all feel like your cars are so auto-handicapped why even waste time on mods that give you 10 horsepower. your car will not become a race car once the y-pipe is on.

If your cars are so autotragic then why not sell it for a stick...I have a damn auto and I still love it. There's nothing wrong with an auto you just can't manipulate gears really. Buy the pipes, you'll feel a gain. Do not buy the lights from CE. Do it yourself after you order the pipes. Have some pride in your car.

Yours is rusted, so just replace it anyway with a Budget/Warpseed...

I have the stillen b and y-pipe with the greddy exhaust. I had the exhaust and intake first and that was a nice gain, but when the b and y-pipes went on it did feel like a different car. I love my automatic and from 3000 on it pulls hard. Spend the money on the pipes. I promise they will make more hp than the headlights. Just a "little" humor!

Ok ok its not an autotragic.....don't get me wrong I love my auto but the 5spd is tons of fun!!!! Alright guys I'm going for the y-pipe and b-pipe. Hey CDG2125 I have tons of pride in my car but how the hell do you make black housing headlights using my stock headlights? I kinda like the headlights with the projectors and I am quite handy with mods on my own but that particular mod seems to be quite a task. If you have any ideas please share.

BLACK MAXIMA what kind of headlights do you have?

Well if you like projectors then you can do the projector mod and fit them into the stock headlights. But making the black housing headlights is simple. You just have to take apart the headlights and paint the inside.

Here's mine:

you lose low end with a y pipe.

my warpspeed feels sick after 3500. that 18hp peak gain and 20hp gain at 6000 just feels crazy.

I thought the whole point of the y-pipe and exhaust were to add low end power? If not then what is going to give me low end power? I dont need as much high end. I have no where where I really get my car up that fast. I'd much rahter have that low end...

In general low end is a lot tougher to pick up than mid or high end power. Nothing will really give you a nice boost in low end unless you spend serious dollars. A 3.5 Swap, a supercharger, or a small turbo will do the trick. Lightest possible wheels will help a bit out as well...

Yeah I still like those CE black housing headlights vs. my foggy 96 glass headlights. ANYWAY I think i'm going to go with the warpspeed y-pipe and b-pipe and pray to god I feel a nice power difference in my automatic.
