800 dollars for a paintjob? im doing all the prep. that sound right???

I think his price sounds right. I have a bunch of friends who are car dealers and if I was doing ALL of the prep work...they would paint for about the same price. Seeing as most people charge 1900 or so for a full paint job (half the time they are prepping the area to be painted) I don't see 800 as being a "cheap job". However, to make sure...I would ask them to show you one of their already done cars and see if you like the way it came out...if there are any runs, peals, etc.

yea im doing all of the prep work all they are doing is spraying down 4 coats of base and 5 coats of clear.

It's not as important of how many coats of clear but more important of the quality of clear. there are many clears that are cheap and will look good for 1 year, there after will start to fade, more expensive clears will look great forever. (keep in mind theose clears are usually alot more expensive hence the diffirences in the cost of a paint job)

I actually went to macco and got a paintjob for like 250 or something since they had a special. But the car didnt really need it and I didnt change colors or anything and it came out really nice. Looked brand new so maybe I just got lucky But then my friend went like the day after me and his paint started chipping pretty fast lol

im painting it the same color its cheaper that way and it saves me a bunch more prep time. im getting it done at Dave's Auto Refinishing. any thoughts?

a few months ago some woman in a minivan went into my lane and scraped up the whole passenger side of my max.... its gonna cost her almost $1000 bucks for one side of the car to be repainted...
