The streets are killing my suspension...

When a city or state repaves roads they need to have a sign saying exposed manhole covers or something.
4AM hit one of those damn things, and my rear drivers shock's spring mount broke off. Aint this about a b!tch. Get to my home boys house and managed to get it back up and on the shock, and it gets me home (6AM). Have to make a run (10AM)and BOOM falls back down. Get to my mechanics garage fix i for a second time...Sitting still waiting in line to get gas and KLUNK. Anyway I have complete tokico kit coming hopefully early this week. How hard should it be to take the old suspension off and put the illumina's on? I'm in Baltimore, and as you just read the streets here don't take kindly to suspensions. Should I start with the lowest setting, or start at 3 and make my mind up from there???

Start at 3 and make up your mind from there.

But a lowered Maxima just can't handle the bad roads... it doesn't really matter what kind of shocks you have. The aftermarket shocks will hold up better, but the car will always feel like it wants to fall apart over rough roads.

Subframe connectors help out a lot in making the car feel better -- but still not exactly smooth.

Digital: How did your suspension break and then your friend/mechanic put it back on, but not have to replace anything?

I know. I'm not actually looking for smooth. I'm just looking for a better ride. I driven stock maxima's and the I know what it should feel like. currently I have Tokico Blues with GC Coilovers. They came with the car. I bought the car from a guy in Pennsylvania. The roads there are a lot more accomidating to that particular setup. The spring rate on the Coilovers are intense. On winding roads, and smooth payment they do their job, but city streets NO!!! I like performance, so I know you have to sacrifice some comfort to gain performance.

Ok here's the thing I was looking for a temporary fix until i decided to either replace the shock or the whole suspension. To fix the problem we held the coilover pieces up above where the mount sits at. Hammered the mount back about the grove that it was sitting on, and hope and prayed for it to stay in place...Which it did for a very...VERY temporary solution. As I found out!!!

Naw, but me and him look at problems in different ways. So whenever we have a problem we find a solution in different ways. 2 opposite minds are better than 2 like minds!!!

Sorry to brake the topic, but since it has been mentioned, I would like to ask about sub-frame connectors, like where do they go and where can I get them. Thank you.

i was planning on it. i think i might need some camber bolts cause when i went to get an alignment done when i first got the car. they couldn't get it right. Are camber bolt hard to install. cause I don't want to have to put the suspension on and then have to put camber bolts on right after it to get the correct allignment???

word of advice. The same thing happened to my friends accord . . . sort of. His suspension was fine, but he bent both of his 18's on the front by hitting that huge lip they leave when milling the road. There were no signs. HE actually pulled over immediately, called the cops, and got the cop to write up a report on it which stated he wasn't speeding and verified the damage. He filed a claim with the state via his insurance company and the state actually paid for his rims. Granted it took 2 months to get any money, but still.

Just driving around NYC anytime of the day. We have some of the worst roads ever. The sad part is as soon as you cross the city boundary, everything is smooth sailing.
