Removing snorkel, stuck at removing connectors
Ok if there were no wires attached to the snorkel i could eaisly get it off. How do i get those 2 connectors off the snorkel so i can remove it and clean the ****loads of dirt in it?

ok well heres the picture anyways its just the gray and green connector...
this is just a refference picture the connector is at the rear bend of the snorkel where the snorkel goes into the bottom of the airbox.
best pic of the connector
so i assume its the amb temp sensor, how do i d/c that damn connector its a ***** i have put some force into it but dont wana break it. Do i have to squeeze the green part down really hard then pull on it?

Seriously can some one just tell me how to d/c the connector. It have been in the garage for 30 min pulling sqeezing trying to get this ***** ****er out of my car. edit: its the same style connector as the one on the top pic near the purple sticker.

Well here is the case now my connector by the purp sticker pops out with ease when its pushed inwards. But i did the same to the one on the snorkel and the green part does not ****ing pop out now its stuck poped in and the connector just moves around. I have tried plyers but my car has abs so its way to ****ing crowded.
#15
I dont even know how to do that...... But the connector im working on is for sure broken, it does not function like the other one, when the green part is all the way poped inwards it still does not come out. I somehow maneged to get pliers in there and i am putting all of my bodywieght into this connector trying to rip it out but that stuburn mother ****ing thing is being a ***** i have 2 bloody fingers over nothing.
#16
See? the connector is pushed in and stuck when its puched in i tried using plyers out, the only result was some blood.
damn connector is the only thing stopping me from getting the ***** ****er outa here.

Wait, don't go to the stealer. You guys have not had yours out lately.
On a 99, grab the connector and pull straight back, it will pop out of the snorkel. There is a rubber grommet holding it in.
No need to undo the connector.

Ya, no need to disconnect the connector, just pull out of grommet. I'f you disconnect your sel will go on! Then you'll have to reset the ECU!
Zip tie the sensor behind the filter if you plan on putting a cone filter on.

oooooo so just pull on the entire connector kinda hard and it should come out with the rubber gromet? Will my car perform the same with this thing out? Thanks x1000 for this advice!
Also i dont think that the conector was d/c at any point but how do i tell if my "sel" is on, what the hell is sel? thanks!

yes ive tried that, i removed the 4 golden screws that go into the airbox and i dont have the right tool to remove the last nut holding on the plastic down, i dont have a deep socket or an extention. So i guess im screwed.
i cant reach that nut down there

Its definately NOT a lack of help. Everybody helped as much as they could. The real problem is that you don't seem too mechanically inclined and you don't even have the tools to work on your car. Most people here would have had that connector off and the snorkel removed in a matter of minutes.

I had my one of my friends try to pull this thing off, he can bench over 180+ which is not uber strong but it should be enough to get a connector of right? wrong, this damn donnector is offically stuck on. The snorkel is from a junkyard and is not exactly in the best condition and is most likely not from a 99. i have tried evreything on this thing. all the other connctors on the car work and eaisly come off and require little or no effort.

dude fawk it, rip it off, your tellin me a piece of plastic is overpowering a man? a man with hoepfully lots of tools that should easily take care of it. Try pulling as hard as you can, put gloves on so you dont fawk your hands up if it comes out, and rip that SOB out.

Airbox hose??
Pretty funny post above. Was he joking??
Question. Can someone direct me to where a pic is located that shows the other side of the snokel airbox (compared to pic earlier in this thread). A little nipple sticks out and appears that it should have a vacuum line attached. Can't find the hose. Where does it go?
I just finished replacing my EGR Valve and Knock sensor (w/o removing intake) and no bloody knuckles either!
Thanks.
