Suspension Making Noise (pics inside)
Suspension Making Noise (pics inside)
I hit a pot hole awhile back, ever since, I've heard wierd noises, sounds like "clunk clunk" So I took my suspension apart and I'm looking for what might cause the noise. My friend took these pics for me was hoping someone could confirm what I'm seeing is right

The strut is supposed to be angled like that.
The end link is sorta free to rotate some like a ball joint - take a 12mm wrench and rotate it using the hex in the middle of the link. So right now I don't see anything 'out' there.
Take it to a good alignment shop and have them try to find the problem. It's probably not an expensive fix and your alignment is probably out from the pothole anyway.

Pics looks totally normal.
Take the strut apart and check it's operation.
Inspect the ball joint, tie rod ends both inner and outter.
Inspect the strut mount.
Inspect the lower control arm bushings.
Reassemble the strut correctly, make sure the word OUT on the upper perch lines up with the lower strut mounting flange and make sure the spring seats evenly in the upper rubber seat.
Test drive and report back.

Hello All, My suspension is also making noise, but more of a quick squeak, it's only when I go over speed bumps or hit potholes. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side strut.
^ i have the exact same thing... i ordered new lca's, inner and outer tie rod ends, and sway bar end links. if that doesn't fix the problem, at least my car will drive a little better until i get around to fixing the noise :-/
swaybar bushings have given me the squeaks on more than one occasion. I'm talking about the bushings under the steering rack that wrap around the bar - take them off and look to see if the metal bracket has sawed thru and rubbed the metal of the bar.
hey guys, thanks for all the help and comments, haven't got a chance to work on the maXipad as i've been out on vacation in Vegas
i'm also hearing a very slight humming as well... not constant but consistant though, definately repetative
i'll report back soon as i get a chance to work on it

if uve done any recent brake work (or maybe not) check the caliper bolts. i hit a pothole and one shook loose and i was hearing clunking sounds (which ended up being my caliper against my rotor). bolt eventually fell out, but luckily i heard it n was right down the street from my house.
