k so i own a 95 maxima 5spd. the other day i went to shift to third wouldnt let me in then it did nothing was there and then i was like wtf shifted to fourth now its stuck. my friend had the same thing happen and it was his shift fork for 3/4 gear, u know the one in the trans...and for the life of me i cant find anywhere on the internet that part. hell i dont even know if im using the correct term. well anyway i plan on replacing the sychros which everywhere i see prices are called sychro rings but ive never heard them called that so is this wahat i want? im also going to get a new diff and bearing and shim it and what not also since i'll have the tranny out and apart already. i just wanna know where to go to get these parts and if im buying the right **** and stuff cus i've never had to do this before

What your describing is a situation where you won't know what needs replaced until you have the tranny apart.
Have you ever done any tranny work before? Do you have pullers, bearing splitter, or access to a hydraulic press? Do you have precision measuring tools of any kind? Honestly, its going to be hard to rebuild a tranny if you have no idea at all what's inside of it.

go to nissan....at the very least the parts guy will pring you out a blow up of the tranny internals and you will have a part number and he can tell you the correct part name....even if you dont buy it there youll know what you are looking for.

I wouldn't bother buying the part until you know what's broken. I've not yet seen a damaged shift fork in a 4th gen tranny, but I've seen damage on many shift gates.
You can get the part numbers from a dealer.
