When you take off your IACV to clean it, do you need a new gasket. Oh yeah by the way why is it recommended for you to clean it anyway?

IIRC...

If you are just removing the valve and not the whole unit you need a new seal .. I've heard its cheaper/easier to replace the whole valve.. You clean it to allow air to freely pass past the valve to keep your idle at the 650rpm level (engine with no load).. if its clogged you may well get low idle and stall with sudden braking etc.

Replacing the gasket is good but not completely necessary. I've reused IACV gaskets > 3 times with ZERO vacuum leaks.

I reused mine once, but the second time I had it off it broke. Lucky I anticipated this because I noticed how fragile it was the first time and I had a new one ready.
