SSautochrome Y& Headers

I've been planning to buy SSautochrome y & headers for $280. Anybody used this set sup before ? Need comments if you made deal with them before. This parts on my cars are all rusted and with a hole on the y making car a lil bit loud in the morning. Will replace the Cat with warspeed . With this kind of set up will it make CEL on my 95 max with cal. emission. Not very particular with improving with performance just needs something to get by for another year or 2. I have this car for almost 12 yrs with no major problemms.I guess , I should be thankful for all those years with this car. Thanks for any comments.

Now I know pics don't tell anything about durability, but check out my myspace or cardomain for installed pics of the ssautochrome headers and y-pipe. 4x4max, you're scaring my by saying they could be trash in a couple of months! I bought my set on eBay for $300 shipped.

I'm in the same boat - mine arrived a couple of days ago. I'm just putting the Y-pipe on for now, I'll hold off on the headers.

A few people I know had good luck with SSAC parts - ranging from Nissan 240SX/SR20DET exhausts, Hondas, and Mitsubishis.

well i know for the MK3 supra the ssautochrome tubular exhaust manifold needed some touch up welds on the runners, and some cleaning up on the flange. Lots of people had fitment issues because the turbo would touch the strut tower, some had a hard time bolting it up. Other then that its not bad, basically what im trying to say is you get what you pay for.

I had some fitment issues myself, mostly in the EGR department. It works, and the hardest part was taking the frame apart to get to the rear manifold. That's not SSAC's fault, though. I was happy with what I paid for, even if it did take me like twelve hours to get it done with all the right tools. My best suggestion is to chop your EGR tube and reconnect it with a rubber hose and clamps. That's not what I did: I bent and cut and reflanged it until it fit. Don't do that. It's too time consuming.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY JUNK ???? FITMENT, WELDS FELL APART ???

How can an exhaust manifold, thats not connected to a turbo, no real force on it, be junk ?? That probably flow just as good, if not better than stock for really not much money. I only bought them because I dont wanna spend $850 on Cattmans, and I didnt wanna put stock back on.

I ordered the OBX exhaust from them a while ago when there was a GD and had fitment issues, the b pipe hung way low and I had to have pretty much the whole thing cut and welded again for it to fit the way it should have from the start, but all in all ended up being like $380 for the catback after the welding...btw pics are on my cardomain

he said the welds were crap and the pipe started leaking, but as i said, this might not be true for maxima parts by SSAC

id imagine the quality of hte parts would be the same. I guess the best thing you could do is before you install it inspect all the welds for consistency, any visable defects and possible fitment issues before installing them. From what ive heard after they fix the little problems (crappy welds, and a bit of porting to clean it up a bit) they are generally happy. But for the price its kinda hard to go wrong. even if the gains are minimal still better then stock.

I installed an SSAutoChrome header and y-pipe on 01sentrase2.0's Sentra a few months back, and he's been pretty pleased with how well it's held up in that time. Granted, it's a bit different than a v6 setup, but he did mention that it "felt" like it free'd up a bit of HP and changed the tone.

The headers are ****. I have them on my vq35 and they had a leak on the collector. Not to mention one of the nuts cross threaded on the header, and cracked the stud. I would never get them again. Equal length is the way to go.

I bought that setup and I have had the ypipe on now for almost a year with no problems. Nice deep sound with definitely an increase in HP. As for the headers, not sure on those. I have not had the funds nor the time to get those installed.

My downpipe had fitament issues and would vibrate against the floorboard of my car. The outlet pipe did not line up with their downpipe and the flange had to be cut off and rewelded. The welds are terrible. Other issues that SR owners have seen are cracked exhaust manifolds. Very poor quality product. It may be different with the maxima, but those are common issues.

Just received headers & y today 3 days after ordering. That's a good start for fast delivery. Welds and ports look clean. As for fitment , don't know yet. Will install saturday. I'll tell you how it goes. Wish me luck!

Can you do that without having an emission problem or passing inspection? did you not have CEL with unconnected EGR? I'm just curious. I may have the same problem of connecting the and I might do same thing ,"weld the hole shut".

I put a set on my car early last year and I loved the gains. The hardest part was the install on the rear bank because of the EGR and motor mount.
No fitment problems, no leaks.
I even took them off that engine and put them on my new one when I did the swap. Still no problems yet (knock on wood)
