Stainless Steel Headers+Y-pipe = $ 230

well since u all say y-pipe is a y-pipe and that what its made of is whats important...then what do u think of this

i was about to buy budget today..then i saw these ...Budget is supposed to be 220 and some ppl said they give u a free test pipe... so i could get headers + y-pipe for 230 ... waht do u think of these guys? ..

I would say just go with the budget Y pipe. Headers on the Maxima have not been proven to really gain much of anything on our cars IMO. Plus I dont think the Y is the same on both the 4th and 5th gens.

i wouldnt buy anything espeically that from ebay. i dont think alot of the stuff sold on ebay will even fit without making changes yourself. i bought many things that just didnt fit correctly and they wouldnt reply to any messages.

its far better to go with budget or warpspeed because they have the lest liklyhood of having bees in the can effect. however go with something proven to work and not some unknown brand.

headers wont help you ONE BIT unless your boosted in someway or form, and i belive there is only room to install one header on the engine (hey i think i could be wrong, i remember someone saying something about this on this forum) please correct me if im wrong about that.

actually all y-pipes arnt the same....if the y merge sucks ***** then ur pipe ont be as good as it should...but u will still see gains since u have no pre-cats and gay restrictions....and headers arnt headers either....but for 230 its hard to pass up no matter what people tell u.....

I actually have also been looking at these for awhile, they have a review from vqpower (I think its that site) that shows good results from them. Not as cheap, but worth a look and proven effective.

If you really want headers just get them alone and get a Warpspeed or budget Y pipe. If you go cheap you will pay for it later.

Just go with the y-pipe. As cool as it is to have headers, they are a HUGE pain to install.

They are pretty much the same setup. The only real gains you will find a Y-pipe header combo is the Cattman or Hotshot headers. Those SS autochrome headers are pretty near stock.

I think you're trying to do a lot with your car at once so you're looking for cheaper parts. If you buy cheaper parts you're going to pay for it in the end. The headers off ebay are a waste of money. Basically the same as stock and as matty said the only good header combo are the Cattman or Hotshot combos. Pick a few mods that will benefit your car for now and stick with it for a while. Don't go cheap on any performance type mods.

You should just get the budget (lssexhaust) ypipe or get a warpspeed one for 160 (redlinemax). Most y-pipes are the same but I wouldnt risk getting an unknown one just because of the higher chance of bee in the can noise. But yeah I really wouldnt cheap out on any mod especially performance mods. But that might just be me, I dont even put less than 93 octane in my car.

which one is more quiet for Ypipe? Budget (lssexhaust) or Warpspeed and
how loud exactly is the car w/ the Ypipe, is it obnoxiously loud? like a civic? and it still passes emissions?

i thought headers are only headers when they have the same length for each pipe.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB..._BIN_Stores_IT
in that link it shows one header and one modified manifold.

i belive they modify it like that because of the fit, meaning it probably wont mount very good if they made it any other way. but still - its not a header if thats the case (in my opinion, am i wrong to think that?).

anyways, all y-pipes will sound simular - except for bees in the can, and the budget and warpseed are the only ones that usually (not 100% all the time) dont have bee's in the can (from what i read on this forum).

make sure if you want the car quiter then make sure to get a good quiet muffler. the muffler will cause virtually no increase in hp for our maxima, so using stock vs a 500$ muffler wont make a differnce in perfromance. the "B-Pipe" tho will likly increase hp a few hp, but nothing great.

Anyone notice that the seller calls it a MISSAN MAXIAN in the pic? I'm not sure If I'd buy from someone who can't spell Nissan Maxima correctly.

Good catch SlackR237... I noticed the Missan Misspelling also.

I must admit, I have the SSautochrome Y-pipe. I got it for $68.50 shipped ($50 plus $18.50 shipping) through e-bay. It's been on 1-2 years now and while I havent had any other Y-pipes. THis one seems to have the same effect as others. As for the headers, I can't help ya there. But for the price, I say go for it.

How would a Ypipe + G35 sedan Exhaust sound? i dont want the max. to loud, as i already have my weekend car that does more then that.....

i like the g35 sound and just a little bit more umph from the ypipe i think would suit my needs perfect for a daily....

and with a Ypipe is passing emissions still the same?

ps- out of all the cheap eBay things, especially OBX i would stay away from... except ssautochrome, there actually not as bad

Why do you "need" headers and a y pipe asap?
In reality, the only good header setup is the Cattman/Hotshot header but the gains arent anything drastic over just a Y pipe on NA cars.
For the price, the Budget Y is the way to go.
The $200.00 aluminized Y pipe breaks down to $177.49 USD
and the Polished stainless steel $250.00 breaks down to 221.91 USD

I have the SS autochrom headers and ypipe installed. No CELs, and you shouldn't unless you mess up your O2 sensors. The things wrong with the headers i found is that the welding tends to over flow near the holes for the bolts, causing the washers not to seat properly and a little grinding is needed. The front header was easy to install. it will be the Rear header that will be the problem. I would suggest sincei did this install alone. Take out the passenger side CV shaft. (unbolt the Hanger bearing, and unbolt the strut on that side. don't jack on the suspension, jack on the frame so the suspension hangs. that way you won't have problems getting the strut back on). If i had take the CVjoint out i think it would have been about 75% quicker install. Then after i got the rear header on (same problem with the front, the welds overflowing) i started to put the y pipe on and to put it on i had to losen the header bolts i just tighted down to get the alignment to fit and then tighted it down. when i got everything installed i took it for a spin and noticed a vibration sound coming from underneath. I got back to the garage and took off the hanger that the stock y-pipe uses (its in between the oil pand and transmission housing, 2 bolts to take it off) and the sound went away. Its got a little growl, when you rev it lightly, but if you rev it quick the motor whine is louder then the exhaust(since i have all stock exhaust from cat back.

There are plenty of complaints on the quality of ssautochrome's items,...

there is no way to tell. warpspeed and budget are least likly to have bee's in the can but that doesnt mean you wont get one that has it. if you get the pipe and you install it, and find out you have bee's, then you are SOL.

no way to tell what percentage of people get the bee's or not. mabe you can talk to the rep about it and see what they say. i suggest calling them to find out. i belive warpspeed and budget only order on the phone - as they dont answer the emails (i could be wrong, but i remember warpspeed not reading them, and you could only call them (this was a while back ago - mabe a year)).
