possible to mount 225/50/16s on stock wheels?

It's possible, but it would really depend on the actual tire you are looking to mount. I think stock rim is something like 6.5" wide? For some tires that's not wide enough to support 225 but not all tires. I know some folks on the forum have done this so I am sure it's ok with some tires.
