Hey,
I am sitting here flipping out, b/c my uncle just called me, (from Las Vegas), and told me there is a black 1999 Maxima SE out there for sale. He gave me a list of what is done to it:
-Super Charger
-Intake
-Exhaust
-100shot Nitrous
-Y-Pipe
-B-Pipe (I think)
-And something done to the transmission
It is a 5spd with around 38000 miles. My questions is, how much do you think this car is worth? It has the stock SE rims on it, and has no suspension work done to it. Also, what do you think the 1/4 time would be around? Any other advice or (constructive) comments are greatly appreciated. I am going out there to look at it in 4 days, and I'd like to know exactly what I should look for, and how much I should expect to spend. Thanks in advance.

I'd say at least $20k.

I would think using the 100 shot of NOS with the SC could do some serious damage to the tranny or the engine.. if tuned wrong.. I don't know if the engine could take that kind of strain. I know there is at least one car out there with both the SC and NOS.. But the NOS was never engaged after the SC was installed.

Yeah about your future possible car. The way I look at it is, we all mod our cars here. Most of us are real enthusiasts. I know I drive my car harder than the average Maxima Driver in the world, but I also know this:
My car gets synthetic oil changes every 2000-2500 miles
My tranny gets Redline MTF
My Radiator gets flushed every 30K
I never run the car hard when it's cold (always proper warm ups)
I let the car warmdown when I park it (just drive low rpms for a minute before I park)
I only run Premium, name brand fuel
I wash the car weekly
I wax every 6 months
I condition the leather monthly
I dont cut corners when doing modifications and services.
I have 60K on my car and it has NEVER needed one replacement part. I upgraded the stock pads to Porterfields over 30K miles ago just for better braking performance. I turned the rotors while I was at it. I'm still on stock clutch, starter, battery (yeah it's still the factory one), stock rotors, etc. I will be buying a high performance clutch because mine slips a little bit when the tranny is cold.
I'd rather have a car that is loved and driven hard than one that is driven like granny but doesn't see frequent servicing. My dad's friend is an absolute car maniac (has like 20 cars, some vintage ones too) and he tells me the same thing. When you buy a car look at the owner (thus, don't buy used from dealer). Make sure they properly serviced the vehicle, and make sure they properly warmed up the engine before driving (especially if it's turbocharged).
About the NOS, a 100shot is a lot. I'd be more comfortable if it was a 65 shot or so, or maybe even an 80, but 100 is a lot. Try and get a feel for how often he used it? I know people who will use one bottle an entire year, but people who use a bottle a week you might want to reconsider on them. It's all up to you. Pay a mechanic like $100 to thoroughly inspect it (make sure they compression check). If it's within spec then grab it.
Good luck, email me or something if you have any more questions.

Thank you for the very detailed response. I didn't even think of it like that, but I will surely take a mechanic with me, and try and get a good feel of character from the guy. I'll let you know what happens. Thanks again.
