Bose system

I have a 96 max SE w/ the Bose system, and the Bose is pretty much falling apart as we speak. is there a way to avoid the pricey adapter for another deck by just putting another bose unit in? are there any decent bose units out of other maximas that will last a few years? is it just a plug and play type of thing w/ a newer deck from a maxima? thanks

If you're gonna spend 250-275$ on a pile of crap Bose head unit, you might as well take the splurge and gut out the entire system. You can get a major upgrade (new cd play and speakers) for around $300.

I have a 97 bose hu with aux in my car. and I have a 97 bose without aux just sitting there collecting dust. The great thing about Bose is do the Aux thing and you don't have to worry about the cd player any more. All you have to worry about is the battery life of your Ipod or something similar to taht.

Unless you have a possessed hu, like the one in my aunts 98 Gle, it has no display, sometimes it turns off its self, sometimes u cant turn it off, it wont play CD's or tapes, the volume jumps around and you cant control it anyways, but it still sounds like new :P

I'm beginning to think it's just me, but I really like the way the Bose unit in my 97 sounds. I also have an 02 with Bose, and I never liked that, even with the subwoofer, as much as the system in the 97. The only problem with the Bose in my 97 is the #3 button is broken and the volume adjustment is twitchy. I've been intrigued by the pics of the Pathfinder 6-disc install...

BTW - SSV stands for speed sensitive volume. In my experience, a good idea that doens't work very well. In my 02 it's one of the things that works some times and not others on the *** Bose units they put in the 02s.
