RIP Maxima - You were an excellent car....
Well my Maxima's life suddenly ended Friday August 4th, at 4:53 PM.
A lady with her Dodge Durango, decided to make a left right infront of my car whiles I had the right of way to go through and was doing about 40 to 50km/h . Long story short, she nailed the left front of my car and destroyed it. My heart sank as I came out of the wreckage, and saw pieces of my projectors scattered on the ground. I had just given the car a complete wash/vacum/detailing a few hours before, and was getting it ready for the long Caribana weekend.
I loved my car, it was excellent, and what makes this an even worst loss is that it had a new motor that was replaced by Nissan under the 160k KM ASP warranty. It held up very well against the Durango and the passenger compartment is pretty much fully intact.
I suffered some bruises and swelling, and my cousin who happened to be visiting from out of the country (from Florida) didnt do as well, as the air bag took out some of his face and his eye. He will be OK.
The lady is being charged, and now starts the battle with my insurance to see how much they will give me. I had easily sank over $10,000 CDN into my car, with most recently a complete paint job of the front end and side.
I am now looking at getting an '02/'03 6 speed Maxima or G35 6 speed sedan.
