Yellow clear corners? I don't think so.
Yellow clear corners? I don't think so.
I have new clear corners installed, (I think there called clear corners...the ones next to the headlights) and they are nice and clear and clean, but when I turn on the lights at night, the bulbs are a horrid dull yellow color. I went into Auto Zone today and bought new bulbs hoping they were just old bulbs but sure enough
still that yellow. Is there anything I can do or a certain bulb I can buy that will make it a white light instead of yellow? Otherwise I'm gonna buy either LED ones ($17) or silver stars ($21) but I think its stupid to spend that much on CLEAR CORNERS.
I have actually purchased yellow bulbs for my corners and for my side bumper lenses. And bulbs for the indicators which look blue but turn dark amber when lit. The yellow bulbs give my max a unique look. A few folks drive maxs at my school and mine trully stands out.
The yellow you are talking about is the dull brown yellow look of regular wattage bulbs. If you rewired them they would be brighter. Or just get a set of piaa's or silverstar corner bulbs.

You can find some bulbs bulb out there that are going to be whiter with a bit of blue to them, but they wont match any other blubs upfront.
Thats the main reason why everyone just goes with the ambers, to have all the lights up front match.

You have to do this to a 1157 bulb and put it in backwards in order to have the clearence light bright all the time.

Only on the turn signals, you cannot have white turn signals.

beleive it or not, if you want it to shine white, get some blue corner lights. I just had mine taken out for some orange ones, but when I turned them on at night they shine pretty bright white. I LOVED IT!, but I don't think the cops would share the same feeling... so I switched them out..the less attention to me the better..

imoHow can you say clears are kind of gay for light output not being white when it's not the clear corners fault at all. The stock corners are technically clear and they don't give white light.
As for the original poster, the only way you're probably going to get white light is if you go with LED bulbs.

Silver Stars will still have some yellow tint to it, not a pure white.
If you want all the bulbs to match, get amber 1157 for the clearence lights next to the headlights, amber 1156s for the turn signals in the bumper lenses and amber 194's for the corner bumper lenses.

Uisng a hyper white type of bulb such as Piaa's will give you the whitest output, it will still have a small tint of blue to it though. The corners will look whiter then the bumpers though, just due to the differences in bulb types.
Back in the day I tried just about every bulb combination out there. i was literaly wasting money on bulbs trying to get a white matching set. Some were close, but never a perfect match.
I gave up and went with yellow bulbs all the way around.
I went through the same crap with headlights, then I went to the 9007 setup and now Im content with the projector retros.
In short, due it right the first time and learn from somone else's mistakes.Unlesss you wish to spend the time and money to experience the headaches on your own.
