ATF in the cylinders for carbon build up. 2 questions

i want to do this but need to know two things first-how much to put in and how long do i leave the ATF in for? thanks in advance!

Use a product or process that's ment to decarbonize.
ATF belongs in your transmission, not your cylinders.

no joke. heard about this 1st on this org. then two retired aircraft mechanics told me they know of this method from years past.

slicey, point your digicam down a spark plug tube with the piston at TDC and take some pics of the piston tops. also check your compression. before you start dumping anything in there you should have an idea of how bad it is.

and njmax is correct - the ATF thing is really just an old mechanic's wives' tale, although some people have used it with varying degrees of success. but there are better products to use. Nissan has a TSB on this that states to use fuel injector cleaner poured right down the spark plug tube. LCD inc makes a product called LC20 that has been used by some for a piston soak. heck, some people just use water. the point is you have to soften/dissolve it so that it can be burned up in the combustion process. Techron, Gumout Regane, Seafoam, etc in the fuel will also help but is not as effective as a piston soak. however, you need to be very careful when doing any type of soak/water injection. too much fluid in the CC will hydrolock causing severe damage.

just got to a place like midas and get an engine wash, they flush all the crap out for u, nothing can beat this if u wanta spend a little extra
