Muffler Replacement

Muffler Replacement
I need to replace the original muffler on my 95SE (owned since day 1, 64,500 miles).
My friend's brother has a fully equipped shop with powers tools and acetylene and we will be installing the muffler there this weekend.
I live in British Columbia, do not want to go aftermarket and don't want to go the internet delivery route so I have ordered the muffler, gasket and chrome tip from a stealership.
I had the undercarriage rustproofed before taking delivery of the vehicle and the car is totally rust free.
At this stage, I don't plan on buying any brackets, hanger or clamps. The muffler has just started to corrode externally as a result of age and the car sitting for days on end over the years. I have a small hole in the muffler.
I have a few questions:
1. Any particular problems in changing the muffler.
2. Would any rubber hangers likely need replacement?
3. Can the chrome tip be readily removed and reinstalled? I believe it corrodes on over time. I have been told to install the new chrome tip by taking a block of wood and holding it to the end of it and tapping it the tailpipe with a rubber mallet.
Thanks

1.) The only problem would be rust and it seems like you have a handle on that.
2.) The b-pipe supports the muffler a good bit so those hangers are not very stressed, it's up to your own visual inspection though.
3.) The block method is the one described in the FSM so it seem like the appropriate measure but I cannot speak from experience.
You are thinking of doing this yourself right? Once I replaced the two bolts that attatched the muffler to the b-pipe, installation and removal takes all of 5-7 minutes + jack and stands time. I also have one of my hangers hose clamped (to tuck the tip) so that is a step you will not have.

Thanks. I don't think removal will be a problem.
I paid to have my stainless steel Budget y-pipe installed two years ago. I watched the mechanic do it when it was on the hoist and he didn't have a great deal of problem removing the old exhaust component.

11 canadian winters and all you have is one small hole? did you undercoat the muffer too? do you even need to replace it??
how much did you pay for the OEM muffler? I've been getting outrageous quotes between $300 and $450 just for the muffler. for now I'm just going to keep driving on it with the entire bottom rotted off, but it still runs quiet. maybe a bit "throaty". only 7 Chicago winters for me.

I live on the West Coast and it seldom snows in Vancouver and if it does its rained away the next day or so. We can host the Olympics because we have mountains right near the city and Whistler is less than 90 miles away.
I am rather **** about my car and its seen snow about 3 times in its existence and rarely do I drive it if I feel there is any salt on the roads. Typically they only salt the bridge decks around here for the most part.
When I drive to Whistler to go skiing I take another car I own. Parts of the road to there are certainly sanded and salted in the winter.
My car has seen 12 winters.
As I stated above, the undercarriage was rustproofed.
My climate is virtually the same as that of Seattle, which is less than 150 miles south. About the coldest it gets where I am is -11 Celsius, which is +12 Fahreneit.(-18 is 0 Fahrenheit).

You are getting sucked in for what you are being quoted.

Speedy Muffler quoted me $90Cdn for a Dynomax Turbo muffler and $200 for a Walker muffler a few weeks ago.
There's this place called Zetta near my place. They quoted me $50Cdn to mount an aftermarket muffler.
