removing corrosion inside wiring harness?
So one of my taillights had been out for about a month, not that big of a deal. I had tried changing the bulbs and that hadn't done it so I didn't really feel like paying someone to rewire the light. So I was messing around with it the other day and I got the bulb to come on by pushing the harness connectors together really hard but it won't stay on. I pull them apart and see the connections are all corroded. Now I can't really get anything inside it to scrape the corrosion off. Is there anything I can do to make it work again?
an eraser like what you get on the end of a pencil is pretty handy at cleaning electrical contacts. However, it's a pita if you got a lot of them or they're covered in crud & fonge.
A small steel wire brush or steel wooll if you can get into the contacts.

Electrical contact cleaner is the way to go, it's designed to remove corrosion and protect from moisture. Just get a spray can, put on some safety glasses and soak the connecter down for a moment. Then use the pressure from the spray to blow off all the corrosion and your good to go.
liberally spray wd40 and let it stand for 10 mins. After that put a tissue paper to soak wd40,
If you can touch connector remove rust by your hand and tissue paper.
Otherwise use a brush to clean it.
Wait till connector is dry (hint you can use a hair dryer) before installing anything
