Seafoam Verdict - Yes or No
OK, I know there are about 1,545,932,435 posts about Seafoam. What I am hoping to get here is a thread where people that have done the treatment would post their opinion on the effectivneness of the treatment.
So, if you have done the Seafoam treatment please provide the following info:
Location (Intake, Crankcase, or Gas Tank):
Method (PCV or Brake Booster Line):
Amount of Seafoam Used:
Amount of time it sat before restart:
Duration and desciption of smoke:
Relevant Notes:

Location: Crankcase
Method: Brake Booster Line
Amount of Seafoam Used: about 1/5 of the bottle, I think
Amount of time it sat before restart: at least 30 minutes
Duration and desciption of smoke: light grey/white, about 2 -5 minutes
Relevant Notes: The amount of smoke-up during restart has decreased with each subsequent treatment. I do it before changing my oil every 5,000 miles.

i used 2/3 of a bottle the first time thru the brake booster and the rest in the gas tank sat for about 15 minutess.
White smoke for like 2 minutes.
Second time a year after
1 whole bottle
Method Brake Booster Line
Amount of time it sat before restart:15 minutes
Duration and desciption of smoke: for about 4-5 minutes black-gray-white
Relevant Notes: This time i really felt the difference improve gas mileage better throtle response the car felt great. I was kind of worry of the amount of smoke that was coming out but then it stop.
i would do it again somewhere in the next 6 months.

I actually just did my first seafoam treatment earilier today. Very happy with the results. The engine now runs smoother and has less vibration. I feel the car having a lot better response. It only takes a few minutes and seemed to have helped alot. my idle also dropped from 1600 to about 1200 on startup and from about 900 to 600 when running.

i do BG intake cleaner and fuel line cleaner at work. which is the same type of stuff as seafoam and never once had a CEL after it. well aside from the random misfire faults. Had a couple cars that needed super super long cranking to get it to work but yea.

FINAL VERDICT:
In the gas, its just wasting it, theres better gas additives, much better.
In the oil, NO NO NO, if your engine is dirty use Auto-rx, Seafoam is WAY to thin for the oil in any engine i care about.
Down the intake, YES, the best use, just go slow and you may be pleasently suprised

i seafoamed my car about a week ago and i will continue to do this. i put in about 1/3 of the can thru the brake booster line and let it sit for 15 minutes and started it and had smoke for about 5 minutes... then i drove the car around a bit and did it again jus to get everything and the results are CRAZY!!!...better throttle response...better idle...better startup...great product

its a trade off, it will clean the engine/ fuel injectors / vacuum liens however it has side effects
for example when cleaning the fuel system/injectors I have see that they can screw up spark plugs, my buddy who works at goodyear also has had similar experiences

Location: Brake Booster Line
Amount of Seafoam Used: 1/3 Deep Creap Can
Amount of time it sat before restart: 15-20 min.
Duration and desciption of smoke: 5min real heavy cloud/10min small amounts
Relevant Notes: I personally did not experience a big diffence after the treatment. I don't think I will use this method again, I'm nervous on it doing harmful things to the O2 sensors, spark plugs, engine internals, etc.

I wonder how much smoke would be emitted after using Seafoam on a virtually new car. I suspect most of the smoke is from the Seafoam, rather than anything that it is supposedly cleaning/freeing up from the intake.
Unless proven otherwise, I think I'll take a pass and look into the BG44K products.

well as far as cleaning injectors and all that jazz, I've always ran 93 octane as well as the guy before me and kept new fuel filters every 30k 300zx filters.. so honestly I see no need other than cleaning the IM with the stuff, and ppl say the amount it cleans is negligable. now, what I wanna find is a nice cleaner to get rid of some of the grime in spots like the crankcase without sacrificing anything.

If you want to clean your crankcase and ring packs, use AutoRX. See www.auto-rx.com and search the Additives forum off www.bobistheoilguy.com. I have used the product and am more than happy with the results.

First time using it
Location: Crankcase and Fuel tank
Amount: 1/3 each location
Time Sat: 10-15 minutes
Smoke: no side effects
Notes: Seemed to drive a little better, no CEL
Last couple of times
Location: Crankcase, Intake, Gas
Method:alternate between BB and PVC
Amount of Seafoam Used: 1/3 each location
Amount of time it sat before restart: 15 minutes
Duration and desciption of smoke: Thick white cloud for about 15-20 minutes of driving.
Relevant Notes: I have not had any problems using this product on the Max or any of my other cars. Only downside is the time spending on maintenance i.e. plugs oil, pcv, throttle cleaning, etc.

what i did on my old 97 max haven't had the chance to do it yet on the I30
1st time on gas tank 1 can and fill i up with gas the after it was almost empty replaced the filter ,after 6 months same procedure along with the filter, after that 1 can every 3 months on a full tank
1st time on crankcase i used i can on drove for almost an hour or so and then changed the oil and filter i did that for every other oil change
on brake booster line did it twice a 6 months period after that it felt smoother at idle after that but one note when you do this lots of smoke and a mean lots of smoke comes from vehicle make sure you do it in a open space where neighbors won't complaint

Carbon burns black.
Oil burns blue.
and Seafoam burns.........................your O2 sensors. (not to mention it will clean absolutely nothing but your pockets).
Its amazing how people are surprised their motors are smoother..............when 10 minutes before, it was about to shut off. Talk about some good marketing.

what exactly is an engine flush then? i belieev the way its performed is you put a bottle of whatever engine flush into the crank case and run the car at low rpm for 5 minutes, then change the oil.
its kinda hard to believe in 5 minutes that stuff can clear deposits or whatever from the crank case

I added Sea Foam to Maxima, @ 40K, via brake booster and didn't notice any changes.
Now when I did the same thing to my dad's Subaru with 130K it seemed like it helped at first but in about less than a month the car would start and run but after 2-3 seconds it would die. I know I should have never used it on a car with such high milage, but on that day I figured what the heck the car is old, doesn't run very well so I decided to take a chance.
Right now I would only start using Sea Foam if the car has less than 50K miles on it.

Seafoam in the crank case is an engine rinse not an engine flush. Its like having grease all over you and running through a waterfall. May get some dirty off but not nearly enough. ARX (or a group IV synthetic)however, takes 1500 miles to do the cleaning and does a thorough job of it.
